GentlemanJim 01-10-2023, 01:35 PM Those two hours leading up to Sullivan have been a real dog for MeTV up until now. Personally, I'm not sure that I would have picked AITF as a fix, but it'll be an improvement Merry24 01-10-2023, 02:43 PM Wow! That’s a Surprise! BigManMike 01-10-2023, 02:46 PM So that’s why it’s been missing from GetTV for so long. This will be a welcome addition to MeTV and hopefully it will do well and eventually be shown on weeknights. BigManMike 01-10-2023, 02:47 PM I wonder if they will add any crazy disclaimers like they did the first week they showed the Jeffersons? stevea 01-10-2023, 02:53 PM So that’s why it’s been missing from GetTV for so long. This will be a welcome addition to MeTV and hopefully it will do well and eventually be shown on weeknights. If the show does well on Sunday nights, I could see it going to M-F primetime. MeTV knows how to promote shows (unlike some other diginets), so we'll probably be seeing promos soon. biffbronson 01-10-2023, 03:04 PM They should do a mash-up promo using Rob Reiner's 1967 episode of The Andy Griffith Show, since they'll be airing both series. The Meathead in Mayberry...! Merry24 01-10-2023, 03:30 PM Here is my Suggestion.. BigManMike 01-10-2023, 06:02 PM Hopefully it will also mean MeTV will get some more Norman Lear shows in the future once contracts are up on other stations. TVLegend 01-10-2023, 06:05 PM Hopefully it will also mean MeTV will get some more Norman Lear shows in the future once contracts are up on other stations. Yes, I wanna see Sanford and Son join the schedule and maybe One Day At a Time in the mornings on weekdays. I’ll even take Good Times also. The Norman Lear shows haven’t been on MeTV since they were a Chicago/Milwaukee only channel. 24/7 reruns 01-10-2023, 06:20 PM Hopefully it will also mean MeTV will get some more Norman Lear shows in the future once contracts are up on other stations. I agree. I remember when Antenna TV had many of Lear's shows on. Maybe MeTV could get Norman Lear to introduce episodes of All in the Family. Especially with all of the political correctness these days. It would be nice to hear why he chose some of the subjects on the show. Svenfan1234 01-10-2023, 07:09 PM I more or less expected to see this on MeTV. This isn’t a good sign that Antenna still has a good relationship with Sony, since they got it. The Norman Lear shows were, after all, their pull with people and starting in 2018, you could tell they were just scrambling around to find another prime time pull. I wouldn’t be surprised to see MeTV or Decades add Sanford and Son and Good Times. And maybe somebody will add Mary Hartman if the reboot comes to fruition? Merry24 01-10-2023, 07:30 PM Yes antenna tv has lost a lot of its popular shows to Me TV -Leave It To Beaver -The Monkees -The Three Stooges -All In The Family If Me TV did not have Decades there might of been more of a selection for antenna tv. sm95fan 01-10-2023, 07:49 PM Yes antenna tv has lost a lot of its popular shows to Me TV -Leave It To Beaver -The Monkees -The Three Stooges -All In The Family If Me TV did not have Decades there might of been more of a selection for antenna tv. AITF was on GET most recently. It hasn't been on Antenna in years. I think my market added Antenna in 2019 and it had been off for a long time already by then. merlinjones 01-10-2023, 08:30 PM Bummer. I was hoping MeTV could be a Lear-free zone just for us eternal escapists. All in the Family is a good show and I watched back in 1971, but it's too much like real life (see also MASH). Lots of screaming and yelling and lecturing. Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color would be more reassuring. 24/7 reruns 01-10-2023, 08:42 PM I more or less expected to see this on MeTV. Maybe add Mary Hartman before/after Dark Shadows. Both were odd versions of Soap Operas. 24/7 reruns 01-10-2023, 08:44 PM Bummer. If they were to go the Disney route I would prefer The Mickey Mouse Club stevea 01-10-2023, 08:55 PM Good Times did well for TBS in the early morning hours years ago. Maybe MeTV could try it to replace one of the Dragnet half hours. I'd like to see that anywhere on their schedule. sm95fan 01-10-2023, 09:19 PM Good Times did well for TBS in the early morning hours years ago. Maybe MeTV could try it to replace one of the Dragnet half hours. I'd like to see that anywhere on their schedule. Good Times already airs mornings on GET TV. space1999 01-10-2023, 09:30 PM I didn't see this coming. I wonder if this will air uncut and if they will air a disclaimer like with The Jeffersons. The Sunday night timeslot is definitely a test run for the ratings. Perry Mason movies ran its course, they lost Columbo. This was a wise move to try and get people to tune in. If it does well, I could see it replace Beverly Hillbillies on weeknights. Get TV isn't the best channel its kinda weird and not as lively as MeTV. Perhaps Weigel can get all the Norman Lear shows. Get TV is already phasing out all the sitcoms for more action shows. PaperClips 01-10-2023, 09:41 PM MeTV Needs help. The Beverly Hillbillies?????? They are going the wrong way - I'd run Early Edition at 6 a.m. MikeLutton 01-10-2023, 10:19 PM get tv is becoming the new former sleuth channel remember that one BigManMike 01-10-2023, 11:07 PM What’s odd though is Get TV began airing All in the Family, Sanford and Son, and Good Times all together at the beginning of 2018 after Antenna lost rights at the end of 2017. Seems odd All in the Family expired on Get and moved to Me but Sanford and Son and Good Times are still on Get. Were the contracts for each show a different length of time? Seems like they would have all ended at the same time unless Get renewed the contracts for Sanford and Son and Good Times but not All in the Family. But now Get is running Sanford and Son and Good Times at bad times. Makes me wonder how much longer they will be there. stevea 01-10-2023, 11:33 PM Good Times already airs mornings on GET TV. Ah! So if MeTV obtained the rights (assuming Get TV didn't have an exclusive), they'd have to write it for a different time period. stevea 01-10-2023, 11:41 PM If it does well, I could see it replace Beverly Hillbillies on weeknights. Get TV probably doesn't even show up in the ratings. MeTV would make more money for the syndicator (Sony). Even thought I think Get is at least partly owned by Sony, they'd follow the money if MeTV wanted it and could contractually get it. On the bolded part of the quote, that's what I was getting at in an earlier post. To take it a step further, it could even replace both BH and Green Acres. space1999 01-11-2023, 01:03 AM Get TV probably doesn't even show up in the ratings. I feel like it can potentially replace TAGS and MASH if MeTV can't renew their contracts. Certainly the more iconic show among others. 24/7 reruns 01-11-2023, 05:49 AM What’s odd though is Get TV began airing All in the Family, Sanford and Son, and Good Times all together at the beginning of 2018 after Antenna lost rights at the end of 2017. Get TV was better when they showed rarely seen shows like The Girl With Something Extra, Pete Loves Mary, and Ensign O’Toole. That's when they also showed old variety shows like The Judy Garland Show, Sonny and Cher, and The Johnny Cash Show. merlinjones 01-11-2023, 12:00 PM Get TV was better when they showed rarely seen shows like The Girl With Something Extra, Pete Loves Mary, and Ensign O’Toole. I watched getTV all the time back when they had those variety shows and classic Columbia movies. Never ever watch now. 1960'sTVfan 01-12-2023, 08:20 AM Get TV was better when they showed rarely seen shows like The Girl With Something Extra, Pete Loves Mary, and Ensign O’Toole. That's when they also showed old variety shows like The Judy Garland Show, Sonny and Cher, and The Johnny Cash Show. I agree, GetTV is garbage now. I recorded the Peter Loves Mary episodes back when they ran them and I'm glad I recorded them. On the subject of All In The Family, some episodes are good but it's not a big favorite of mine. My favorite Norman Lear show from the 70's is probably Mary Hartman, but only the 1st season, episodes 1-130. Starting with season 2, episode 131, the writing changed and the show wasn't as good anymore. I would really like to see Forever Fernwood again, this was the follow up series after Mary Hartman ended. I was hoping Shout Factory would release Forever Fernwood on DVD after they released Mary Hartman, but it didn't happen. merlinjones 01-12-2023, 12:14 PM Another Sunday night alternative would be the opposite of Lear shows (or anything else on prime time) -- family comfort food: Leave it to Beaver, Ozzie & Harriet, Donna Reed, Father Knows Best, My Three Sons (ABC version)... Duster76 01-12-2023, 12:52 PM All in the Family can be a bit intense at times, so two hours is a big commitment on the part of METV. The back half of the series run is not as good as the first half so that's another factor. I don't see this as being a long term solution to the Sunday night problem. The overwhelming majority of the decisions METV programmers make are right on target so it will be interesting to see how this one works. 24/7 reruns 01-12-2023, 01:57 PM I agree, GetTV is garbage now.
