I read this and see that All in the Family will be on MeTV.

Those two hours leading up to Sullivan have been a real dog for MeTV up until now.

Personally, I'm not sure that I would have picked AITF as a fix, but it'll be an improvement

If the show does well on Sunday nights, I could see it going to M-F primetime.

MeTV knows how to promote shows (unlike some other diginets), so we'll probably be seeing promos soon.

Yes, I wanna see Sanford and Son join the schedule and maybe One Day At a Time in the mornings on weekdays. I’ll even take Good Times also. The Norman Lear shows haven’t been on MeTV since they were a Chicago/Milwaukee only channel.

I agree. I remember when Antenna TV had many of Lear's shows on. Maybe MeTV could get Norman Lear to introduce episodes of All in the Family. Especially with all of the political correctness these days. It would be nice to hear why he chose some of the subjects on the show.

The Norman Lear shows were, after all, their pull with people and starting in 2018, you could tell they were just scrambling around to find another prime time pull. I wouldn’t be surprised to see MeTV or Decades add Sanford and Son and Good Times. And maybe somebody will add Mary Hartman if the reboot comes to fruition?

AITF was on GET most recently. It hasn't been on Antenna in years. I think my market added Antenna in 2019 and it had been off for a long time already by then.

Bummer. I was hoping MeTV could be a Lear-free zone just for us eternal escapists. All in the Family is a good show and I watched back in 1971, but it's too much like real life (see also MASH). Lots of screaming and yelling and lecturing. Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color would be more reassuring.

Maybe add Mary Hartman before/after Dark Shadows. Both were odd versions of Soap Operas.

If they were to go the Disney route I would prefer The Mickey Mouse Club

Good Times did well for TBS in the early morning hours years ago. Maybe MeTV could try it to replace one of the Dragnet half hours.

I didn't see this coming. I wonder if this will air uncut and if they will air a disclaimer like with The Jeffersons. The Sunday night timeslot is definitely a test run for the ratings. Perry Mason movies ran its course, they lost Columbo. This was a wise move to try and get people to tune in. If it does well, I could see it replace Beverly Hillbillies on weeknights.

Seems odd All in the Family expired on Get and moved to Me but Sanford and Son and Good Times are still on Get. Were the contracts for each show a different length of time? Seems like they would have all ended at the same time unless Get renewed the contracts for Sanford and Son and Good Times but not All in the Family. But now Get is running Sanford and Son and Good Times at bad times. Makes me wonder how much longer they will be there.

I feel like it can potentially replace TAGS and MASH if MeTV can't renew their contracts. Certainly the more iconic show among others.

I watched getTV all the time back when they had those variety shows and classic Columbia movies. Never ever watch now.

On the subject of All In The Family, some episodes are good but it's not a big favorite of mine. My favorite Norman Lear show from the 70's is probably Mary Hartman, but only the 1st season, episodes 1-130. Starting with season 2, episode 131, the writing changed and the show wasn't as good anymore.

I would really like to see Forever Fernwood again, this was the follow up series after Mary Hartman ended. I was hoping Shout Factory would release Forever Fernwood on DVD after they released Mary Hartman, but it didn't happen.

Another Sunday night alternative would be the opposite of Lear shows (or anything else on prime time) -- family comfort food: Leave it to Beaver, Ozzie & Harriet, Donna Reed, Father Knows Best, My Three Sons (ABC version)...

All in the Family can be a bit intense at times, so two hours is a big commitment on the part of METV. The back half of the series run is not as good as the first half so that's another factor. I don't see this as being a long term solution to the Sunday night problem. The overwhelming majority of the decisions METV programmers make are right on target so it will be interesting to see how this one works.
