This Bob Eubanks hosted game show was doomed from the start going against The Price is Right and network Wheel of Fortune. ABC should have moved one of their soap operas there for counter-programming and put Trivia Trap in the afternoon.

ABC has had a long history of shows in the 11 AM EST slot that failed since Supermarket Sweep was canceled in 1967 and replaced by the short-lived The Honeymoon Race. For a while, after Dick Cavett's talk show flopped, the network returned the time period to local stations. In the mid to late 1970s, the network aired reruns of prime time shows, such as Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Love Boat and Three's Company. Then they aired games shows including Trivia Trap and All Star Blitz but ABC didn't have success in that time slot until The View debuted in the 1990s.

Bob just celebrated another birthday, born Jan. 8, 1938.

I consider myself a Bob Eubanks fan, I spent many hours back in the '70s watching The Newlywed Game. "Gentlemen..."
