Stam Fine Reviews indicts the 1986 season (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eTvGdRLgJU) of Doctor Who. After its 18 month rest, the program makers felt that since the show was on Trial, they should reflect that by having the Doctor also face trial. It's got good bit and bad bits dotted throughout but you can never escape the feeling things are on a knife edge behind the cameras.
