Even though it's only a cartoon, I wonder how animal rights groups and activists would feel about the way Lucy treated Snoopy in A Charlie Brown Christmas. To me, they would condemn the scene where Lucy says to Snoopy, "I ought to belt you one!" This would definitely smack of animal abuse.

Yeah, this is just like hearing certain people moan about Pepe Le Pew, and his "treatment" of the female cats. Yes, put that animated character under arrest!

I was more shocked at the end of the Thanksgiving special when Woodstock gleefully consumed another bird. :P
