All the action seems to take place in the 12th Station Precinct.

I haven't really watched this show in a while, but I do remember a scene or two in which the action took place outside the squad room. But there were only a few...

That's one of the things I liked about a lot of seventies sitcoms. 99% of the action took place in one room. No multiple sets, no cast of thousands, just the stars, and some good dialogue..

Oh yeah, just remembered ep ?#25?
Fish, took place mostly at Fishs apartment. That was a really really good ep! Dietrich was absolutely hilarious with that whole Gregory Peck imitation.

They very rarely leave the station and this is one of the cool things about the show since it forces the writers to be creative. Here are a few exceptions that have not been mentioned

1. The first episode "Ramon" takes place mostly in Barney's Apartment
2.The 5th or 6th episode "Stakeout" takes place mostly in an unoccupied apartment bulding.
3. Another is the episode where Chano shoots and kills a suspect
4. Also the Wojo/Wentworth romance episode takes place partly in a hotel.

Maybe someone should complie a complete list at some point.

I'll look out for them. I just started watching Barney Miller recently. It's a funny show.

I saw episodes that took place in Barney's apartment, Fish's apartment, the apartment used in the stakeout, and the hotel where Wojo and Wentworth went undercover. It's a credit to the show's stellar cast and crew that the show did so well within such small confines. All we ever saw of the 12th was the squad room and Barney's office!!!

I agree completely!!! Simplicity is the key. Give me good acting and writing over the bells and whistles (special effects, bedroom scenes, etc.) any day.
