It almost seems like Pearl's character was a happy medium between Granny and Mrs Drysdale. Anyone else see that?

Only now that you mention it. If she had stayed with the show, Pearl could have learned how to be a society snob from Mrs. D.

It's almost like if you combine Granny and Mrs Drysdale you get Pearl lol

I almost wanna think Mrs Drysdale would have accepted Pearl eventually because Pearl at least wanted to fit in, but I don't know, Mrs Drysdale was really big on family lineage, and having to be from the right bloodline

Snobs like Mrs. Drysdale might respond to being kissed up to. Pearl could have done that, and asked for help in "fitting in." It could have made for a few good scripts, since there are probably a few ways that could have gone south.

Another thing Pearl could have done is fawn over Claude, which might melt Mrs. D a little.

I'm sorry but I don't see either of them in Pearl.

Granny was a short tempered little woman and Mrs. Drysdale had no redeeming qualities outside of the fact she loved Sonny.

Pearl Bodine was unique in that she was still a hillbilly but she was smarter and more worldly than the rest of them and while the rest were happy to remain static she was trying to change her life (land a husband in Mister Brewster) and improve the life of her son by sending him to Beverly Hills.

Pearl really was the best character and I'll say it again it was blunder taking BB to Petticoat Junction and making her play straight man to the Hooterville hayseeds.

Pearl was usually pleasant but could be pretty hot tempered.... She was one of the few who actually stood up to Granny.... telling her she'd wrap the spinning wheel around her neck and konk her on the head if she messed up her clean floor.... PLUS she could be a bit of a snob....she really wanted to fit in with the well-to-do... I always pictured Pearl wealthier than her other neighbors in the Hills
