In the absence of returning Cranes, the Frasier reboot could pull from its roots in Cheers to give the show the boost it needs to succeed.

"In real life, Shelley Long had reportedly hated the character of Frasier Crane"
Why? What's not to like of Frasier Crane! I can understand why someone would dislike Cliff (annoying) or Carla (mean), but Frasier?

didn't a bunch of them visit Frasier at least once? I don't see this happening.

Kirstie Alley was the only notable exception. It has long been alleged (https://screenrant.com/frasier-cheers-rebecca-kirstie-alley-no-return-scientology-reason/) that the reason why we didn't see (https://www.reddit.com/r/Frasier/comments/wgd513/why_was_cheers_rebecca_howe_character_never_on/) Rebecca Howe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Howe) on Frasier was because Kirstie Alley was (it's still weird to have to refer to her in the past tense now) a devout Scientologist. And the Church of Scientology are generally anti-psychiatry, which goes hand in hand with Frasier Crane's profession.

This has been clarified in the past by Kelsey Grammar. Shelley did not dsilike the Frasier character, but she did dislike the idea of Frasier being the cause of Sam & Diane's break-up. She favoured the idea of Sam & Diane being together. If you see the comedic chemistry between Shelley & Kelsey, while not as good as Ted & Shelley's (which was just possibly the greatest sitcom chemistry ever), they were excellent together, whether in the 3 seasons they were on the show together, or during the 1 scene they shared in the Cheers finale, or when Shelley guest-stared on Frasier.
