View Full Version : Colonoscopy Lee 12-20-2022, 04:57 PM I had my first colonoscopy earlier today. How many people on here have had that procedure? Caroline13 12-20-2022, 05:39 PM Hey Lee, a member with Health interests....yea... I have NEVER done one and I'm 84 and after a certain age they are not even pushed. I've done so much work with Grape Seed Extract and it has a lot of good medical advice and colon health. Millions do them, but not me. GentlemanJim 12-20-2022, 06:40 PM Is that the one where they hang you upside down by your ankles, and pour a barium milkshake up your you know what? I've heard the procedure can be very humbling Caroline13 12-20-2022, 07:24 PM There's no hanging upside down, GJ. GentlemanJim 12-20-2022, 08:19 PM There's no hanging upside down, GJ. This goes back about 50 years, but a then adult professional friend told me that they strapped him on this huge "wheel of fortune" type upright table, spun him 180 degrees, and poured him full of this milkshake like sludge (barium rich), and then scoped him. And he said that when they finished and returned him to the upright position, was the single most embarrassing event in his life. wooosh! DJM77 12-20-2022, 09:15 PM I had one around 20 years ago when I was either 24 or 25. I'll probably have another one sometime in 2023. Dude111 12-21-2022, 06:06 AM I hope everything is OK Lee :) Bubanyan 12-21-2022, 08:01 AM yes, it's disgusting procedure stevea 12-21-2022, 11:21 AM The disgusting part is the prep. Dude111 12-21-2022, 12:01 PM One time they tried to do one on a friend of mine and they did not put her to sleep... She said she was screaming it hurt so much........ Terrible :( Caroline13 12-21-2022, 02:05 PM I'm not a western medicine tester as they want us to be, unless there is something really wrong and for me there is nothing wrong in that area of my body. One thing for certain you keep going to the doc for this and that or whatever, they will find something to work on with their drugs and tools. Big Business the Western Medicine stuff. GentlemanJim 12-21-2022, 02:10 PM She said she was screaming it hurt so much.:( Sounds like they must have gone where no man had gone before? Dude111 12-22-2022, 08:20 AM Yes they were on a 5 year mission to boldly go where no man had gone before...... biffbronson 12-22-2022, 08:32 AM Haven't had it done, but one of my dad's cousins died from colon cancer, so that's a concern. My brother has had 2 colonoscopies, and polyps were removed. I totally agree with you Caroline. Don't get me wrong, I have sympathy for those who are in a position where ongoing medical care is a necessity. But personally I believe the whole thing has become just too much of an enterprise. Hang up a shingle, get a few dozen patients you can diagnose with chronic conditions, attach the siphon to their insurance policy, and bury them in an ocean of co-pays, ...till death do us part...etc. The impetus is on the doctor to find billable revenue streams. SO guess what? He finds them. Caroline13 12-22-2022, 01:35 PM Haven't had it done, but one of my dad's cousins died from colon cancer, so that's a concern. My brother has had 2 colonoscopies, and polyps were removed. Grape compounds effectively suppressed colon cancer stem cells (CSCs), a new study found. Prior research shows that the grape bioactive compound resveratrol (RSV) and grape seed extracts (GSE) can induce colon cancer cell death. However, the efficacy of the combination against colon cancer stem cells remained unclear.Jul 6, 2017 On Grape Seed Ex and Resveratrol https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/resveratrol-grape-seed-combination-suppresses-colon-cancer-stem-cells So so many don't know the benefits from this kinda miracle health suipport...you folks don't know how fortunate you are to be getting this info, act on it however you will.. Disclaimer: If one takes a drug blood thinner, then can't take both. My daughter had some stomach issues years ago and she let docs do too many of these tests and she talks about it and stays away from the docs as best she can... She has a pretty messed up colon area and one thing she can now see what caused so much distress was stress in her then marriage.... Caroline13 12-22-2022, 01:54 PM I totally agree with you Caroline. GJ.... stevea 12-22-2022, 02:12 PM They are in the business to find problems, and there appears to be no such thing as a doctor in private practice anymore--they're all working for hospital systems or other large physician groups. But there are honest people out there. The dentist who tells you your teeth are fine this time. The HVAC tech who says the furnace is OK. Caroline13 12-22-2022, 02:26 PM I believed in doctors for most of my long life, and then in 1980 I started to do my work. This due to a trip to the ER from a pharma drug. Docs can do great work on putting bones together, putting people back together in many ways and it goes on and on for what they can do.....but they don't study nutrition and supplements, not much anyway. And I'll bet many take their own share of supplements.,.... ponytail 12-23-2022, 08:00 AM I had one done years ago. I don't plan on having another one. Dude111 12-24-2022, 08:41 AM You dont want anyone blodly going where no one has gone do ya?? Its understandable :) GentlemanJim 12-24-2022, 12:34 PM I sincerely do not understand how doctors "do it". Being so intimate with so many other people, their fluids, orifices, etc. It would totally gross me out. Anything much beyond a handshake and I start having second thoughts. But when you start factoring (potentially) diseased bodily fluids into the equation,...blech!! Having to earn a living that way, day in and day out......nope! Caroline13 12-24-2022, 01:20 PM GJ, yea it makes one wonder about all the bloody hard work surgeons do almost every day, and it is hard work no doubt. I'm hearing more and more lately of the shortage of doctors coming on. And I truly believe MOST people who have gone thru surgeries are left with mild to severe damage to their bodies. I was with 2 I had. GentlemanJim 12-24-2022, 01:38 PM Surgery too, I'm not discounting that. But even being just a general practitioner, the thought of some 80+ year old lady coming in and saying "I think there is blood in my stool"....or some old man for whom hygiene has become a lost art, complaining about a mole on his unmentionable..... I just couldn't do it. stevea 12-24-2022, 02:20 PM I had one done years ago. I don't plan on having another one. ^What she said! Caroline13 12-24-2022, 02:34 PM Surgery too, I'm not discounting that. I just couldn't do it. Doctors are burning out. I never encouraged my grandkids to go this route. I have studied my own health issues for so long I kinda consider myself a naturopath with no license. I always tell people To Do Their Own Research. GentlemanJim 12-24-2022, 02:51 PM I think part of my "confusion" originates in the societal more that becoming a physician is a mark of success. "OH my son is a doctor"...that sort of thing. I understand the compensation is good, but the thought of what you have to put your hands on, to earn that distinction, just goes beyond my boundaries. YUK!! Maybe a hand specialist, that seems less repulsive. Caroline13 12-24-2022, 03:04 PM Oh as I see it all, and I've been around a long time, MOST people are lazy and don't know or want to Heal Themselves....Run to a doctor. I've done my time with allopathic doctors and talk about a waste, but I learned and we learn from our experiences and mistakes and if people don't learn, they are brainless. GentlemanJim 12-24-2022, 03:12 PM This is perhaps cruel and overly harsh, but I believe for some people, the attention they get from the doctor, is what they crave. For an hour, or however long their office visit might be, the focus is on them, they have the doctor cornered, and he is bound by convention to frame his participation in a sympathetic light. The ohhhs, the ahhhhs, the "you poor dears"....concluded with a pat on the head, and an invitation to do it all again at some future date......what could be better? cpmaz 12-25-2022, 02:02 PM I had one done years ago, and while they didn't find anything, I was supposed to get another, but then the pandemic hit. In 2016, comedian Lewis Black did a very funny routine on things that were more popular than Congress. I'll agree with him on one thing - it's a procedure that falls under the heading of "if you need one, get one. Don't argue about it, just get it." There is Need and Want, many do want to do them and many do not. Western Medicine believes we Need all they want us to have. Caroline13 12-28-2022, 02:22 PM Recent Info from Dr. Mercola. I was given the choice to do a fecal test years ago and Never did one. https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2022/12/28/effects-of-colonoscopy.aspx?ui=6056f7bff9194ec828d230542d2b5e503d2d32b8da387a245991d33706a1f4cd&sd=20060730&cid_source=dnl&cid_medium=email&cid_content=art1ReadMore&cid=20221228_HL2&cid=DM1315268&bid=1680307881 STORY AT-A-GLANCE Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both sexes combined. Despite the fact that there are multiple screening methods, most doctors simply recommend colonoscopy, which is one of the riskier methods Research shows that while colonoscopies can lower your risk of a colorectal cancer diagnosis, they do not significantly reduce your risk of dying from colorectal cancer Recent research concluded that about 25% of all colonoscopies performed are unnecessary A systematic review and meta-analysis published in 2017 concluded that regular aspirin use was as effective for preventing colorectal cancer incidence and death thereof as screening with flexible sigmoidoscopy or fecal occult blood test. And, when it came to preventing death from cancer in the proximal colon, aspirin was more effective than either of these screens About 80% of endoscopes are cleaned using Cidex (glutaraldehyde), which fails to properly sterilize these tools, potentially allowing for the transfer of infectious material from one patient into another. If you must get a colonoscopy, make sure the hospital or clinic uses peracetic acid to disinfect their endoscopes. This will minimize your likelihood of contracting an infection from a previous patient Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both sexes combined.1 In 2022, an estimated 106,180 Americans were diagnosed with colon cancer and another 44,850 with rectal cancer. Of those, 52,580 died.2 The average lifetime risk of colorectal cancer is about 1 in 23 (4.3%) for men and 1 in 25 (4%) for women.3 Men and women over the age of 50 with average risk of colorectal cancer are typically recommended to get tested either by:4 •Stool-based tests: ◦Annual fecal immunochemical test (FIT) ◦Annual fecal occult blood test (FOBT) ◦Multi-targeted stool DNA test (mt-sDNA) once every three years •Structural exams: ◦CT (virtual colonoscopy) once every five years ◦Flexible sigmoidoscopy (FSIG) once every five years ◦Colonoscopy once every 10 years after age 50 until age 755 I'll mention it again, check out Grape Seed Extract and Colon Health. |
