hi... i am wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me.... as an american living in london for the past 8 years, i am having serious lucy withdrawals.... it was on, briefly, a few years ago, but since then, i haven't been able to get my hands on any videos that are in PAL format. i have tons of friends who are anxious to see what i've been raving for so many years, but after searching the web, ebay, amazon etc... all i can find are american formatted tapes.... if any one has any info at all about where i might find any tapes that i can play in england, i would be forever grateful....
thank you...

The best info I can give you, is if there is a possibility, if you have a friend here who would generously have a tape made in PAL for u. I know there are editing places around that can do it here in the United States. Otherwise, see if u can order a Lucy tape, and find out if in England there is an editing place.

The only other advice I can give you is, if you could find an inexpensive DVD player, They make I Love Lucy DVD's now, and DVD is universal. You can even play them on the computer.

I hope this advice helps you out. Good Luck.

thanks for the advice....i have thought of doing what you suggested in the past, transferring them over to PAL..it's just the cost.... i am wondering about the dvd possibility though, as i was under the impression that there are also different formats of dvd. i am sure you need a player that recognizes differently, the same type of the thing as the videos. as when i found the dvds on amazon, they list that they are only for US and canada....i will check it out though!!!!!
thanks again!!!

They make DVDs for different regions, just like VHS tapes. The US and Canada are in the same region, but England would be a different region. They do this to stop DVDs and videos from being produced cheaply in other counties, like in Asia, and then selling them here. I did hear that someone made a DVD player that can play all the regions, but I have no idea where you would buy one. You could think about buying a US DVD player and then buy only DVDs made here.

You can buy Multi Regional DVD players that play DVD's of all regions.
I have one that plays American DVD's, but I think they are quite exspensive.

Another thing is if your computer has a DVD player in it, you can change the region coding.
