I knew that Demond Wilson (Lamont) years after the show became a "Born Again" Christian and became a minister. I saw a video on Youtube recently of him as a minister on TV talking into the camera about his conversion and wanting people to have a new life in God. He was very compelling and very honest and did not come across as some "TV preacher". I think he could have gone that route but did not. He said during his testimony in that video that he did cocaine and "went the way of the World". He was very compelling and honest. I liked him. I am agnostic but respected him so much there. He seemed to care about people and their souls.
His Wiki, which I have just seen now, says nothing at all about his conversion, or if he pastors a church. Just his acting career and relationships. The guy seems very honest and sincere. I have read stories that him, Redd Foxx and LaWanda Page (and even accusing Page of being their drug dealer) using cocaine on the show. But Page's wiki also said she became a Christian and was even an evangelist in the Holiness Church. But I also saw Lawanda Page in a movie, "Friday" in 1995 with Chris Tucker where she played a cameo as a door to door evangelist who gets the door shut on her by the main actor of the movie and her cursing them leaving with the other ladies. Basically Aunt Esther with blue words.
Speaking of Page, I have heard her act and have seen Redd Foxx's act. Page's act is "filthy". I for one like crude, if crude is done well and that is a thin line. She did crude well and was hilarious. Foxx wasnr crude at all in my opinion. He was funny and good but not nearly as good as say Richard Pryor. But Foxx's routine was Rated G next to Lawanda Page's act.
I will say one great thing about Demond. He has been married once and since 1974. I respect that. Two more years and they have been married 50 years. The wife put up with him in the old days and the drugs. They have six children together (and would like to know about them, and suurely he has grandchildren now).
Where is Demond ministering now, if he is. He is now 76 years old.
