I may have posted this already, but I like to know if I'm talking to a M or F...and it's tough to even figure it out while talking to a person. And some use N/A on their profile for gender status.

Now maybe all you old timers know everyone's gender, I don't.

It's no biggie but makes me wonder why the mystery????

I was thinking I was on a different board, but yes, I guess before or after our name we could have a capital letter.

Of course there are individuals who seem to get a thrill out of confusing the gender issue, masquerading as the opposite sex to deceive others for their own amusement. Seems like an odd way to cop a thrill to me.
I understand that for some there is a "hero worship" aspect that runs contrary to the above, but for the most part I have a hard time appreciating why someone would sport an avatar of opposite gender.

Not saying there is anything necessarily "wrong" with doing so....just that hero worship or deceit are the only motives that come to mind when I observe it

Unfortunately, there are more than just a few people out there who cop a thrill by sending ersatz gender identity signals over the net. The thrill coming from the confusion they are able to create.
I remember back in the 90's when web access was first going mainstream, it was a huge thing for ghey guys to pose as lonely women seeking men...just to fool the heteros....sort of an online cat-and-mouse game for lonely hearts.

I suppose stuff like that is still going on. So, it's always "buyer beware" considering the anonymity of the internet. ;)
