Brought Florida’s sister Clara on the show to help J.J. and Thelma look after Michael

Gave Wilona a permanent boyfriend

Showed James’ mother

Showed more of Bookman’s wife and The Awesome Foursome

Showed Ned the Wino and Sweet Daddy

Gave J.J. a girlfriend with snooty parents for comic relief

Did a crossover with Maude

I think the 5th season would’ve been a whole lot better with those additions and then we wouldn’t have to deal with those awful filler episodes.

After James left the writers were writing things almost exactly as you wrote. The abused girl who gets adopted in the building. Thelma gets an African boyfriend. JJ grows up and stops saying dynomite. Wilona gets a rich boyfriend and we see her work as a store detective too. Florida gets an atheist boyfriend. The list goes on and on.
The chemistry was ruined and all these new ideas could not make the magic again. I think like on Roseanne and Bewitched they should have replaced James and moved on. I wish he was not fired and it was a mistake but I think an imposter James would have been better than all this other stuff.

Crossover wasnt possible not same sitcom Universe

Showing awesome foursome more
JJ's Job and coworkers

Giving Willona a permanent man would have made it her show so definitely not lol

Who would have been the new James? Whoever it was there would probably have been a lot of flak over "fake James"

Would have been better if one of them moved out permanently, and had a successful life away from their siblings. That way they could have helped the other two grow up quicker and fuller.
