Are there any plans to release Cheers on DVD soon? Especially if they do they will probably start with the first season probably the best season of the show, and the best season of a show during the 1982-83 season.

Malone 08-14-2002, 10:58 PM yes there are plans. i believe they r under construction tho samanddiane4eva 08-14-2002, 11:46 PM I emailed Columbia House and I asked them but as for now they had no plans to release the complete seasons on DVD. Guess we'll have to wait longer now :( dlemond 08-15-2002, 12:31 AM Go to www.tvshowsondvd.com and sign up (free) and vote for Cheers. It is currently the 25th most requested show to be released on DVD. I have voted. So go and do your part. As for it being under construction already, I have no idea. But since it is one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, I'm sure it will be here soon. tigeress 08-15-2002, 12:52 PM I voted, too. :) tvje 08-15-2002, 03:19 PM Well the person who E-mailed Columbia House. You emailed the wrong people. Columbis House is just like a store. The people you want to email are Paramount. Go to the Paramount website at www.paramount.com and you can email them from there. I did just that. GoldenFamilyTies 08-15-2002, 04:24 PM Originally posted by dlemond Go to www.tvshowsondvd.com and sign up (free) and vote for Cheers. Sean Snow 08-15-2002, 04:35 PM Actually Colombia House DOES release shows on DVD and VHS. They often get the rights to put them on tape from companies, such as Paramount. I'd doubt Paramount would give them the rights to "Cheers" since Paramount would probably want to release it themselves since they would make the most money that way. They got surprised when Colombia released Lucy on DVD, so they made their own Lucy DVDs to combat against the Colombia set, and since "cheers" is still very popular they would probably want to make the most money they can off of it before it one day starts to die down in syndication . . . dlemond 08-15-2002, 04:45 PM This is what I don't like about the site. It does not have a big list of the shows rankings except for the top 10 (seen after you register along with other stats). To see where a show ranks (even if you haven't registered), you have to go to the voting section, bring up the show by name and click on it. It will show its current rank and number of votes. You can vote yourself by what you would want/buy- season sets, best of , individual, or any combo. You cant vote until you register. It bugs me not to have a complete list, to know how far a show is behind another. I think I will email them and ask them to please list at least the top 100 for us to see. dlemond 08-15-2002, 04:50 PM I made an error. You must register I think in order to see any ranking from the voting section. It's free and quick. the riviera kid 08-16-2002, 11:57 AM Hi, I've just voted for Cheers at tvshowsondvd.com. It looks as though it'll take 200 more votes to move it into the Top 10, and 250 to become part of the Top 5. So, I suggest everyone tells as many people as possible to vote. Zeb dlemond 08-16-2002, 12:00 PM Cheers is now #24 moving up a spot from #25, when I first made my post . Keep voting people. the riviera kid 08-16-2002, 12:14 PM How about if someone used Ebay to tell more people about voting for the Cheers DVDs on tvshowsondvd.com. The listing could be titled 'Important message for all fans of Cheers' or something , and that way everyone looking for Cheers stuff on Ebay would come across the message. I'm sure all Cheers fans want them on DVD, and would do anything if they thought it would help get the show on DVD. I'm sure we'd get 250+ eventually if the title and description was right. It's got to be worth a try Zeb |
