The Newhart opener is really nice, especially the longer version. A lot of great Vermont scenery, with a great Henry Mancini score.

I'll cast my vote for the opening of Get Smart. Maxwell Smart going through the doors before falling through the floor in a phone booth is a classic.

This is a tough one, I'll rank them in order of preference:

1. Family Ties

2. Newhart

3. Green Acres

4. WKRP

5. Taxi

6. Laverne & Shirley

7. The Big Bang Theory

Family Ties is my favorite, but the Taxi opening (music and film) is by far the most intriguing, a melancholy opening for a comedy series, one of a kind.

Back in the early 1960's there was this daytime soap opera that started with a closed pair of entry gates, similar to what was at the street entry at the Beverly Hillbillies mansion. The opening title sequence would roll, and then the gates would open.

Then at the end of the show, the closing credits would roll, the gates would swing shut.....fade to black.

I'r's been killing me trying to remember what show that was. (any help welcome)

As far as shows that I can recall....Cheers was always kinda energetic.

I've only watched a few episodes, but I love the Dallas theme and intro from a design standpoint. The way they edited the aerial views of Dallas with the three shots of the cast members was very well done. You knew you were watching appointment television.

Dynasty and Falcon Crest also had great themes by Bill Conti. Most of the primetime soaps from the 1980s and 1990s had memorable themes.

I like the Perfect Strangers theme and intro for the views of Chicago.

Most of my favorite intros are from some of my favorite shows:

Happy Days, Diff'rent Strokes, Gimme a Break!, The Facts of Life, Family Ties, The Hogan Family, Silver Spoons, Webster, Mr. Belvedere, Cheers, The Wonder Years, Three's Company, Leave it to Beaver, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, Please Don't Eat the Daisies, The Brady Bunch, Unsolved Mysteries, CSI, Without a Trace, American Dreams, Survivor, The Amazing Race, The Incredible Hulk, CHiPs
