out of all the varius inconsistancies the golden girls presents to us none bother me more then this. Rose's mother appered in the first seaason as a very healthy 80 year old. and the next time we hear about we hear that she died. WHEN. Did i miss the episode where she dies.

I'm not sure, but there were way too many inconsistancies throughout the duration of the series -- and some of the characters who guest starred (like the daughters or sons of the Girls, for example) had different actors and actresses playing them whenever they'd appear! Why? Hardly any of them were known names, so why would they not return to the show to guest-star if given the opportunity? This was one of the most-watched shows of its time, so why wouldn't they want to return? That thought irks me a bit...

What gets me about the diffrent-actor thing is that sometimes the actors don't even resemble each other at all! Case in point: Blanche's daughter Rebecca. The first time we see her, when she's got that horrible boyfried, she's fat. The next time she shows up, she's thin!! LOL!

What episode is it, when it's mentioned that Rose's mother died?

I also noticed some differences. Like in one episode Sophia is worried about losing a pound. She said she has never weighed more than 99 pounds in her entire life. Then in another episode she says she had gained 30 or 40 pounds (pregnant) or something like that. There are many others but I can't think of them right now.

It's just proof that the constant push for new shows each week means that some details of the writing process get over-looked. Plus, keep in mind there was no internet during the filming of TGG. They couldn't come into something like this board and say "Oh yeah, we've named all of Rose's siblings after plants." They had only memory to go on.
Besides, it adds a little intrigue to the show. I mean, if we knew *everything* about it, would we be on here? Would we have even watched the show? Would it have even existed?
Who knows...

In the episode where they say that Rose's mother died, are you referring to the one where Rose meets her father? If you are, they are talking about Rose's birth mother that died in childbirth and the mother that we met was Mrs. Linstrom, her adoptive mother.
If that's not the episode you were talking about just ignore this message. :)
