I know teachers ask this question like EVERY year, but I'm just curious. How did you guys get your names? Like were you named after anyone? Does your name have any signficant meanings?

My dad was watching M*A*S*H one night and Hawk-Eye's girlfriend's name was Carly...... so they just...... named me that. Poo.

I was almost named Maura... :( I like the name Deidra.

Well..my mother wanted something to go with our lastname (Bell). Originally her first ones were: Liberty, and Betsy Ross...Thank GOD my Dad refused! I mean...c'mon- youre just asking for a beating @ school with names like that! So, they finally decided on Crystal. Yeah..I get the DING DONGS, cow bell, Clear, things ALL the time.

My mother got my name from the Bible. I was supposed to be born around palm sunday/Easter, and Bethany was the town where Jesus stayed before Palm Sunday, where he performed a famous miracle (anyone know which I'm referring to? LOL). Anyway, the name also means "House of Figs" which means fruitful. That's me, Miss Fruitful! :)

Anyway, I actually love my name! Which is odd, because most people hate theirs. I have a little fetish with my name... I'm a weirdo. :crazy: LOL

Umm my mom said, "Let's name her Amy" and my dad said, "Okay."

I was gonna be Caitlin Marie blaaaah...but then my mommy met someone named Lauren and she had never heard that name b4 and she really liked it, so, yea. Now I'm Lauren Kelly

Well, my fathers aunt was named Caroline and my mothers aunt was named Joyce (my middle name) so it was kind of a compromise there. My mom also admitted that she she liked the way the name sounded because it reminded her of Caroline Kennedy.
Yeah, I dont mind my name too much, but by the time I was eight I was bordering sick to death of that Neil Diamond song.

weeeeeeeeellllll...my name needed to start with a 'K' but my parents didnt know wut to name me. first my mom said Karly but my dad said nooooooo...n then my dad said Kara but it didnt work with my last name. n then my mom said kimberly and my dad said "yay" but than my mom realized she hated the name kim and only like kimberly! soooooo than my dad was lookin at a irish newspaper *i dunno y* and he saw the name kerri and he asked my mom if she liked it and she said ya so thats how i got my name.

My dad wanted a name that couldn't be shortened into a nickname, and out came Cathy. Who knows were it came from.

My parents liked the name Kaitlyn. They were gonna name me Keaton (that's my mom's middle name) but nnnnnnnooooooooo, I get stuck with Kaitlyn.

My mom told me she always wanted to be named Christina since she was a teen and so she named me Kristina she thought a K was more unique I guess.

My parents were going to name me Heather. But then my mom saw the name Shannon somewhere, and she thought it was pretty and very unusual. Of course, by the time I went to junior high school, I always had at least one other Shannon in one of my classes. :rolleyes:

I think my mom said that she got my name from a character on a soap opera she used to watch. She did the same thing with my brother, too.

I was originally supposed to be named Brian, but my mom saw a Sean Connery movie and decided to name me after him.

whose real name was Brittany and she liked it so thats what
she called me (sigh) I don't like my name! I never did! even
when I was little I wanted to be named something else!

Well my mom had 3 names picked out before I was born, Kristin Kirsten and Maryette (yuk). I happened to be born on my brothers 7th birthday and his name is Kurt Daniel so my mom decided to name me something that went along with that so I became Kristin Danielle. Kristin was the name of Ricky Nelsons' wife and that's where my mom first heard that name. Apparently the name Kristin wasn't that common in the early 70's like it is today because people who had never heard of the name were always asking my mom where she got it from.

I was almost named Magda after my great grandma. It's not fitting for me...but hey, its a TD character! lol

You too huh? I think no matter what your name is, somebody's gonna give you a nickname.

I'm actually not very sure... I THINK that my parents got it because their friends' cousin had that name or something... except she spelled it Marissa but they only liked it with one S so...yeah. I was gonna be named Kari!!!!! Grrrrrrr. I love that name..cept I hate the spelling. I like the way Kerri spells it, and I also like Kerry (I wonder why...lol).

Mom wanted to name me Bruce. Her dads name was Bruce and he had died eight years before I was born. Thank goodness dad talked her into naming me David instead. I don't know how he picked the name David, I think he just liked it.

I was named after a character on a soap opera. The character name on the show was named Jennifer Lynn, so that's where I got my first name and middle name. Guess it could've been worse though. lol

Well, at first they were going to name me Ashley but since all of my siblings have biblical namesthey wanted to stick to that, and Christian was the first name that they thought of and liked.

I always seem to run into another Shannon somewhere! :) So people call you Shan or Shannie, huh? I guess I'm pretty lucky, 'cause no one's ever called me anything but Shannon.

My mom wanted to name me after her favorite aunt and her two of her best friends. My father liked the names together and I became Katherine Alice. My father did suggest Marie though. I like Marie better than Alice.

My mom looked up names in the baby name book. She saw the name Anthony but didn't like it. So she chose to name me Tony to shorten it.

My mom wanted to name me Michelle but she couldn't think of a middle name that went with it. Then she saw some tv show and one of the actresses real name was Morgan Brittany and she liked Brittany so she named me Brittany and made my middle name Michelle.

My older sisters name was Michele Renee. I think that middle name goes good with Michele. I think it's kind of overused though.

Well...I was origionally going to be named Holly...but my mom was a labor & delivery nurse and there was a lady there that named her little girl Kaley...mom liked it and it was the only one that mom asked dad about that he really liked. Plus, mom's middle name is Kay. And then my middle name....I'm named after my grandma.

My dad , being German, named me after a German song called "Lily Marlene". The name Marlene means" tower of strength"

So my mother didn't want me named after my dad, so I think she came up with something like it, which I'm glad. I get irritated when people read my signature and call me Gary, which they do for some reason, not intentionally... My handwritten name LOOKS like Gary???

Btw, "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" by Rush is on the radio. THAT has got to be one of the coolest songs of all time. I wish I could see Rush tonight at the Gorge in George, WA., but I have to save my money. I saw them 5 years ago up there and it was great!!:guitar: :guitar:
