I Love Lucy Thanksgiving:
(The Ricardos are getting ready for Thanksgiving. Ricky and Lucy are in the kitchen.)
Ricky: “Lucy, are you sure you want to cook Thanksgiving dinner?”
Lucy: “Yes dear. I do.”
Ricky: “Are you sure you want to cook it correctly?”
Lucy: “Of course dear.”
Ricky: “Then you have to follow THESE directions in the cookbook and not your way. I know how to cook. I cooked a Turkey dinner before. I cooked it successfully without burning. Your way will burn the dinner. Follow these instructions UNDERSTAND?”
Lucy: “Yes dear.”
(Ricky leaves. The Mertzes pop in.)
Fred: “Hiya Rick! Happy Thanksgiving.”
Ricky: “Same to you Fred. Happy Thanksgiving Ethel.”
Ethel: “Same to you Ricky! Where’s Lucy?”
Lucy (coming out of the kitchen): “Here I am. Happy Thanksgiving!”
Ricky: “She’s in the kitchen burning the Turkey.”
(Ricky is laughing.)
Lucy: “Oh you.”
(The women go into the kitchen.)
Ethel: “You are cooking the dinner.”
Lucy: “Yes and I know how to do it.”
(Ethel looks into the cookbook and notices Lucy cooking it incorrectly.)
Ethel: “Lucy, it says here that you are doing it wrong.”
Lucy: “You are just like Ricky. I am not doing it wrong. I KNOW how to cook a turkey. This is a Thanksgiving dinner where I am NOT going to cook a bad dinner.”
(Later on, everyone is sitting at the table. Lucy is serving the plates. Lucy notices that smoke is coming from the kitchen. Lucy starts to dart to the kitchen.)
Ricky: “Lucy what’s the matter?”
Lucy: “Oh nothing dear. There is nothing wrong in the kitchen.”
Ricky: “Let me see.”
Lucy (guarding the door): “No!”
(Ricky sees the smoke. Lucy reluctantly lets him in. The smoke detector goes off. The Turkey is on fire due to Lucy’s bad cooking. Ricky starts yelling in Spanish. Lucy gets a fire extinguisher and after dousing the Turkey, she accidentally douses Ricky.)
Ricky: “Lucy, did you follow the book’s instructions?”
Lucy (with Ricky and the gang advancing towards her angrily): “No, I’m sorry. Now Ricky! Everyone! When you think about this, this is something we can all laugh at.”
(Lucy laughs nervously.)
Lucy: “Let’s all be thankful that we are here and alive and laughing. Hahaha!”
(Lucy cries in typical Lucy fashion.)
