Reached out on the phone and called and talked to 3 gals I grew up with and went to school with and kept in contact, lost contact and piked it up yesterday. Sure felt GOOD.

We 3 are 84 and 85. And live very close to where we were born. I went West....

Talked to the person who does the big work at our apt bldg and since I reported a "short" in my bathroom outlet, he called me and told me to trip the circuiit breaker for that room and it worked, my electrical is working....He may still have to do some work on it. Makes me feel good.

Since connecting by phone with a long lost cousin who has lived in Indianapolis all her life, I did research on Indiana and pleasantly happy to hear that state's politics....

Today, I did some more bird watching in my backyard. I spotted a House Wren, Northern Mockingbird, and a flock of Spice Finches that live in my Cape Honeysuckle bush. The male Spice Finch is gorgeous with a freckled chest and a bright reddish head. :)

Accepted a container of minestrone,with collard greens and cannelloni.soup that my neighbor made this morning...so good.

my other neighbor did a few things we've put off for a couple days.

Living here in Michigan at this time of the year I only birdwatch from my kitchen window. All the warm weather birds are gone but we have a lot of chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, cardinals, blue jays and a variety of woodpeckers so there are a lot of birds to watch!:):wave:

Yes I still send Christmas cards but a lot fewer than I used to. A lot of my friend's and relatives have stopped sending them. I keep a record of who has sent and to those who haven't in a few years I don't send them cards anymore. My list has shrunk from about 50 to 20 now days. I like getting cards but I am seriously thinking that this might be my last card giving year except to those whom I never see anymore or who live far away.:santa:

The roads were a sheet of ice so our Christmas dinner at my daughter's house was cancelled. I made a hamburger for lunch and then watched a cheesy movie then took a nap. This was totally a weird non-Christmas for me. Especially since Dave is gone. But my daughter and grand daughter will be coming over on Thursday. Then we will exchange gifts and probably go out for lunch.
It has been so freezing cold that the salt on the roads isn't doing any good. This is the first Christmas in my life that never happened:( But I still love my Michigan!:snowman3::wave:

Well Penny, things turn often as they were not planned. Hearing about all the horrid weather in midwest and east all I can say I'm glad I like like like my CA. Glad you love your MI....

The winds reached 30 mph in my neck of the woods. Kind of scary!

Talked again today to a long lost 1st cousin and she is 80 and in the throw of Dementia, I detected that a while ago when we started to talk and now she admits it. her mom and dad both had it. I told her about taking a tsp daily of coconut oil or olive oil as t hese oils help to lubricate the brain....I hope she can remember what I tell her...

Thankfully the migraine was short lived. I had headaches in the past where they never went away, and the only cure was to sleep it off.

NADA, I was stuck indoors due to the stormy weather we are having in my area.

For the last two days it has been (very) windy with a lot of rain. I definitely do not want to drive around in those weather conditions (not safe) and Californians cannot drive when it rains anyway so not worth risking getting into an accident.

Cleaned a closet. It looks so much better now.

Picked up a couple of things from the Dry Cleaners. All the rates went up. Prices are unbelievable!

Sigh! It was such an uneventful day. The weather here is dreadful (cloudy and cool) so I stayed inside. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive :)

I know. I sometimes do some large items in the laundromat but it's expensive too so I wash stuff but just take it back home to air dry. It's a dollar for 10 minutes or something crazy. :rolleyes:

I just got in the mood to call my friend back in PA who lives in a Senior Highrise and has no clue what the high costs of living in larger cities is all about. She still lives in the little town we were both born in and she is very happy and appreciates it all. Her living space is about 500 sq ft, little less and she knows she needs no more. I feel the same way in my 700 sq ft but my rent is 2 times her's...... She's a good egg and calls what is going on the work of satan, the satan she believes in. I believe so many people destroying our universe are the satans....at least we can laugh and understand each other....

Oh we both agree on the royals and who supports them.

Back in 1986 we experienced a mild quake here in Michigan. I felt it here in Mid- Michigan but that's the only one that I know of in my area. There have been a couple of quakes since but in different areas of the state. I think that they originated along a fault line down South somewhere.

I drove around my town looking at all the flowers and plants. The Bottlebrush trees/scrubs are thriving (so much scarlet!). Also, I saw a ton of gorgeous Loquat Japanese Plums:)

Unfortunately, I was disappointed, none of the Jacaranda trees are in bloom. Not one single flower. Which is highly unusual for the month of May. Normally Jacaranda are filled with their stunning purple blossoms.

I bought a few pounds of green grapes which I love and I paid over $20 but they're worth it.

I drove with my dad to the library, it was packed, so I couldn't find a place to park. On the way home, I spotted a majestic Indian Laurel Fig tree that I was unaware existed in my neighborhood. I was thrilled. Indian Laurel Fig are some of my favorite species of trees.:)

I had to go to the Ear,Nose and Throat doctor to get wax removed from my ears. For the past 2 months I could hardly hear and had to use captions on the tv. Luckily it was just wax build-up and it has been removed. I can hear again! Yippee!:yippee:

Went to a neighborhood New Year's Day Potluck, yesterday. Someone brought a Cheeseburger Salad. It was fantastic . . . tomato, lettuce, red onion, pickle, ground beef or you can use turkey, grated cheese and dressing sauce.

Ran errands and went to the grocery store before the big snowstorm hits! Everywhere was packed.

Watching the Lawn Service clear the sidewalks and driveway of snow. It's supposed to snow again all night tonite and all morning tomorrow. Anybody else expecting any snow?

Put away a lot of Christmas decorations. Still have a lot to go!

Gave my bedroom a thorough cleaning . I am getting a new bed delivered on Friday. I hadn't vacuumed under my bed for months and wow! Where did all that thick dust come from?! I have a bed skirt so I hadn't noticed how bad it was. I sure am glad the the delivery person, who will remove my bed and assemble the new one, won't see that mess! It's all clean under there now!:)

Dealt with grocery delivery

Getting my bedroom and living room ready for the carpet cleaners. . . . . . .

I bought a new pair of Skechers shoes.

Reported a plumbing problem to mgmt.

Went to a graduation, there was a small protest during the ceremony. Sign of the times, I guess.

Ordered a new stock of pain ointments.

I walked to a corner store earlier to buy coffee.

I'm going to walk over to a neighborhood Memorial Day Block Party, with the gal who lives across the street. They sent out flyers last week, they're having a Cook-off, again and for the first time a Bake-off, a Pet Parade, and a Dunk Tank. We're mostly going for the Karaoke and the Scavenger Hunt, again, which were both a lot of fun last time!My friend, she's going to enter her Rainbow Cupcakes in the Bake-Off, so we'll see.
They're having a cookie and recipe swap again, too. Bring a dozen - Get a dozen! Although people usually bring more, much more.
