I notice more and more that when I'm asked "How You Doing"...my response is always OK. Maybe it's always been my response but I never thought about it.

No long stories, OK....just thinking my OK's in last couple yrs have been somewhat embellished.

I realize too that when a solicitor asks me this, I ignore them or just about gently hang up ...

My experience is, most people really don't want to know.....they ask out of convention. They want a superficial token answer, mostly as acknowledgment of meeting with another human being.

So this is your reply to those who ask, no one in your life wants to know. That's sad, they do in mine. But then again, I'm feeling more and more a sign of the times, is not many care. .

For me I don't ask this question often as I don't talk to many people. A lot of my generation are dead

And many love to go on and on and on about how terrible they feel, and every pain they have. So in my life, don't ask it often.

I don't think that people in general want a "technicolor" version of what is going on in the lives of people they ask "how's it going?" They want a superficial, or defacto platitude.

"Oh Fine" being sufficient in 90% of instances. Maybe if blood relative then a couple quick details on the children, which will get you an "oh,...that's nice" in reply.

People, in general, tend to bore quickly about things that do not directly involve them. (IMO)

I usually say, "Good, how about you?" Some respond with, "Good, thanks for asking."

I believe in the vast majority of cases, people ask just to be congenial. And those who pretend to care, do so for some self-serving ambition.

Such as a pretext to peddle their health and nutrition advice. eg "Oh, I used to have joint pain too, but started taking an XX supplement, fixed me right up" stuff like that. It's not so much a matter if them actually caring how their target feels, as it is an invitation for THEM to expound and pontificate.

Hi, how is everyone doing on this first day of another week. No explanation, but today my spirits and body are a little lighter, some mornings are tougher.
