View Full Version : Do you remember your very first day of school Ever?
sami dg 08-13-2002, 09:22 PM Its been quite a while ago for me back in the fall of 1980, my first day of Kindergarten was quite a culture shock. I still remember the teachers name Mrs. Coffee and her aid Ms. Berry. Most of the year is a blur but I remember a lot of fingerpainting and playing. Back in those days they didnt really try to teach you alot in Kindergarten.
Swimfan85 08-13-2002, 09:28 PM I dont know back in 1990 or 1989...I am not sure I honestly do not remember a lot bout it, except I met someone who I was best friends with in nursury school but would later meet playing hockey...(i was with her tonight...weird)...but there was a boy Teddy who always had a teddy bear...I remember saying it was my birthday like ever day
vienna waits 08-13-2002, 09:33 PM Well I can't remember the first day of preschool in 1990 but I'm sure I went in crying and screaming.. say with kindergarten in 1991. I hated leaving my mom.
Titania 08-13-2002, 09:39 PM yeah I remember it...1990...I went in the big front hall and my teacher was there with a long line of other little kids that scared the crap out of me because I was an only child and hadnt the foggiest idea there were this many other kids in the world. I hated being social, hated sharing, and generally hated the place except I was put in line next to a girl who would be one of best friends ever (until she moved to Cali that is...)
I also remember being bored to death because I already knew how to read and write while my teacher was teaching the alphabet.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 08-14-2002, 12:22 AM Yups!
Year: 1990.
Age: 6.
My mother swears to this day it was my first day of school. I say it was the second. Believe who you want! lol
Anyways. I got on the wrong bus and the busdriver never looked for me. So she went to the middle school where she found me in the back of the bus. So I sat on the lawn with her just waiting for someone to pick me up. I never did speak up on that bus! lol. Thats the short story of it. My mother usually manages to make it a lot longer. Especially when she goes into detail of calling the bus co. and wanting to get the lady fired...calling the school...calling the principal....going to the SAU (department of schools lol). Yeah..shes one tough chick. I also remember that summer before 1st grade, they wanted to put me in readiness (sp?) which is basically just like 1st grade! But my mother called up the principal and yelled at her and DEMANDING I go to first grade. Needless to say, i graduated this year...had I gone to readiness, Id be a senior this year. lol
Hollow 08-14-2002, 12:34 AM No. I remember my 1st day of kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and of course 8th grade but i dont remember my 1st day of preschool :(

You sound like me. My 1st day was in 1990 too, & I didn't want to go. I didn't pay attention to the kids when I got there, but mom said kids were bawling & beating each other up lol. I remember playing w/ one of those fake telephones. This one boy who moved away told me I was his girlfriend on the 1st day. I was doing ok until the bus ride home. We had assigned bus buddys whom were the 6th graders, & we had to wear buttons on us that had our bus #'s on them (I ran across mine the other day) On my street, the freakin' garbage truck wrecked & went over the hill into somebody's building! Gawd, & that held up traffic & I was scared to death that I'd never make it home anyway lol!!! AND, the bus driver passed my stop (which was like 15 miles past my house cause he couldn't let me off at my driveway cause of rules or some *****) I ended up being the last kid on the bus & he realized something was wrong so he got a high school teacher to drive me home, & mom was worried & anyway I HATED KINDERGARTEN!!!! I also don't care much for being a kid, & I can't wait til I'm 18.
DarleneIllyria 08-14-2002, 01:53 AM I can't remember much about the first day of Kindergarten except that my teacher was a real bitch. The whole year was a hellish experience.
Czas na Zywiec 08-14-2002, 02:04 AM Not really. I rememeber back in 90 when I first started kindergarden (I never went to pre school) I liked the teacher and all, but I didn't know one word of English. So I just mostly sat there all day long refusing to cooperate. I'd either nod my head or just go along wiht what I saw, but I didn't understand anything. :(

Not too exciting that day. Fun though, The playground was nice they had a great sandbox. That whole year was fun. We went on a couple of field trips. The best one was on the commuter train. The teachers were really nice. The kids were okay.
TibbyTibby2 08-14-2002, 11:51 AM I never went to Pre-School. SO my first day of Kidergarten... I remember. I remember getting o n my buss and getting really scared because my bus driver had a beard and was all hairy... to a 6 year old that can be frightening. But then i got off and walked to the building and a very nice lady said "Hi you can come with me." And i said " but, im supposed to go to Mrs. Paris." and the lady said" Why, i am Mrs. Paris." Lol.
Also i remember my name tag was made of the same material as my blankie.
Carmen_Epstein 08-14-2002, 12:00 PM 1st grade was hellish. Nasty Teachers (we had team teaching)
Mrs. Piccataggio-screamer
Mrs. Klein-Drill Seargant
Mrs. Costello-Manic Depressive.
I hated first grade.
Blair85 08-14-2002, 12:45 PM My grade school scarred me for life (just a little) I wanna tell u a little about my teachers & stuff. My kidergaten teacher scared me & I think she's a bitch. The two aides that helped her were nice. My 1st grade teacher was pretty nice, but she got onto me for finishing my work too fast  My 2nd grade teacher was crazy, but a really nice person just not a good teacher. We thought my 3rd grade teacher was gay, but my friend & I swore he got it on w/ a female guest speaker in our classroom while we were in gym. My 4th grade teacher was cool & a good teacher. I hated 5th grade!!! I started feeling awkward in 6th grade & the teacher could be a bitch!!!!! as for the rest of them-one is a ho, some of them are on drugs, & another teacher told us that she spoke perfect English & then put a sentence on the board w/ the word wash in it, but she pronounced it warsh lol. OMG, this one teacher was a nice person, but out of it all the time, & she got mad at her class & screamed F YOU!!!! at the top of her lungs, then went crying down the hall! My teacher was always checking on her. She was in our class alot cause the classrooms are connected, & there was a big chair in our class that she'd always go to sleep in LOL We'd be doing math problems & she'd be snoring! I don't know why I typed all this. I doubt if any of u care cause i don't either. My grade school was screwed up!!!
Krisalicious 08-14-2002, 01:00 PM Yup i remember my first day of preschool.....
It was 1993 and i was 4......i remember walking to the door with my mom and there was this lady walking in with her daughter. My mom started talking to her and then she told my mom her daughter was going to preschool too! Our moms told us we should talk to each other on our first day, and we immediately got along great. And who is this girl? Well...that girl i met on my first day of preschool was my best friend! And we've been best friends ever since! So i remember walking into preschool and seeing lots of kids and i saw my teacher and she was talking to us about the rules of preschool etc etc etc but the part i remember most about that day was when our teacher gave us cookies and milk for snack.....yeah those were the good days...
Jordan 08-14-2002, 01:09 PM I believe it was 1990 (maybe '91 -- I dunno -- I'm bad at math!) when I went to my first day of kindergarden. Nuthing much to say except....I cried. :(
Kay Scarpetta 08-14-2002, 01:12 PM Oh I certainly do remember my first day of Kindergarten.... *sigh* So long ago!
Carmen_Epstein 08-14-2002, 01:19 PM Oh man, I've never had a teacher that screamed F you at us. Whoa! We had one teacher that got punched in the face by a student. Everyone hated that teacher. Another teacher had her baby in the nurses office. Two gym teachers were gay and one of them was having an affair with the in-school suspension teacher. One of the Social Studies teachers committed suicide.
None of us could believe it. He was really a nice guy, but he kept to himself.
Warm & Fuzzy 08-14-2002, 02:49 PM How can I forget? That was the day I met my best friend... I remembered my parents left me in the room, and I guess my first reaction was to go home, lol. I think I even cried a bit.. But by recess, I made some friends and 'liked' school ever since. Pretty lame, eh?
InspectorExstead 08-15-2002, 12:04 AM yep...i remember my first day. i was like two weeks late. lol. this aide walked with me and my parents and when she opened the door to my class, my eyes popped out. there were so many crayons and markers and papers. i made a run to get inside but the aide grabbed me and told me i had to take my earrings (they were the dangling kind) off. after my parents did, they kissed me and i rushed inside. i remember i made a traffic light and everything. then the next week some girl stuck her tongue out at me and i stuck mine out at her and she, of course, started crying and told on me. lol.

AllIWantIsYourClutch 08-15-2002, 12:37 AM On my second day of kindergarten I couldn't remember where the girl's coat hooks were and I wouldn't ask anybody for help. I guessed. Hopefully I guessed right. I don't remember.

My mom also started school in '55. She loves The Beatles too! She may come on the boards one of these days, and I think you kids would get along really well. :D

Same thing for me.
I remember my first day. It was 1989 and I was 5.
My teacher was Miss Drinkwater and all of us kids made fun of her name for obvious reasons. I really liked her though. She was really nice. Anyway the first day wasn't bad for me because my best friend was in my class and I knew several of the other kids as well. Kindergarten was the best! Every morning we would come in and sit on this really colorful rug thing on the floor and we would watch Sesame Street first thing. Then we would do all of the other stuff you do in Kindergarten. Then at the end of the day if we had time left we would watch Muppet Babies until it was time to go home. My teacher was so cool for letting us watch TV all the time.
britt britt 08-15-2002, 05:15 PM I don't really remember, but my mom told me that I had a tear roll down my face because I didnt want her to leave and I was holding my stuffed animal doggy.
JDS84 08-15-2002, 08:27 PM I started Kindergarden in 1989. I went to Prichard Elementary School. I remember the outfit that I wore that first day. It was a little pink and white shorts outfit and I had this big mickey mosue backpack. I only went half a day in the mornings everyother day. My teacher was Mrs. Gillium and Ms. Rice was the helper. They were the best 2 teachers. I remember this 1 girl her mom would never let her go outside and she sent a note to the teahcer saying my daugter is not allowed to go outside and this day it was like 80 or 90 degrees and I was like what are you doing in here? She was like my mom won't let me go outside. I laughed in her face and said you are weird. There was this one boy who would use the bathroom on himself everyday and his mom would always have to bring him a change of clothes. There was a bathroom inside of our classroom. Everyone morning we would stand up and say the pledge of alliance and sing my country tis of thee. We had recess 3 times a day. I loved Kindergarden. They let us have a Kindergarden fun onlympics. It was cool cause my dad was up there filming and on the way back to the bus Mrs. Gillium was like on the way back wave by to Jessica's dad and there was like 20 or 30 5 yearr olds waving at my dad. We had a Kindergarden Graduation. We have it on home video I laugh everytime I see it. We sung I bringing home a Baby bumble bee. My mom told us everyday that she dropped all 3 of us off at school she would cry before she got to the car.
