Aaron Carter, Singer and Reality Star, Dead at 34

Aaron Carter, singer, reality star and the brother of the Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, died Saturday. He was 34.

Carter was found dead at his house in Lancaster, Calif., TMZ first reported.



Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call reporting that a male had drowned in a bathtub. Law enforcement told the publication that there is currently no evidence of foul play.

Further information is not yet available.



Carter rose to fame in the late ’90s, first as a pop singer. He released five studio albums, starting with his self-titled debut album in 1997 when he was just 9 years old. His most recent, LØVË, was released in 2018.

At the height of his music career, he toured as an opener for the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, before headlining seven of his own tours between 2000 and 2014.

I wasn't really a fan of his music, but this is horribly sad. Nobody should die that way!

How in the world Aaron Carter got famous is beyond me? Because at the time Backstreet Boys debuted it seemed that the two members of Backstreet Boys that were crush-worthy of teen girls were Nick Carter and Howie "Howie D" Durough and although I liked some of Backstreet Boys songs I liked Howie D the most. But once all the girls went crazy over Nick Carter I think Aaron Carter wanted to follow in his brother's famous footsteps and become famous too. Though people claim Aaron Carter got famous with his self-titled album in 1997 it was actually the album Aaron's Party "Come Get It" that made him famous and since it was on the same label as Backstreet Boys Jive Records. I think Jive Records wanted to make Aaron Carter their next big successful teen idol like they did with Britney Spears and the late Aaliyah in 1994 and the success worked gracefully. And soon Aaron Carter was seen on clothing dolls action figures handbags and CD holders and that proved that we would see the next teen idol like Donny Osmond or Michael Jackson. But I think after the sales of his next Jive album Oh Aaron his popularity waned and you could tell that Jive was pointing Aaron Carter in a whole new direction far from the bubblegum pop image he was meant to sell. Soon after that his sister Leslie Carter became a singer herself with her debut single Like Wow in 2001 and she was signed to Dreamworks Records. I think the parents of Aaron and Nick were trying to make the siblings famous like the late Selena was with a family group and like the group Debarge and thought with Nick Carter being famous with Backstreet Boys Aaron would do the same thing

Aaron Carter's Cause of Death Revealed

The Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office has revealed the cause of death for Aaron Carter.

According to the autopsy report obtained by Deadline, Carter drowned in his bathtub after inhalation of difluoroethane, a flammable gas that is often used as the propellant in cans of compressed air, and ingesting alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.

The manner of death was officially ruled accidental.
