I have been watching the Partridge Family for the first time and I have noticed that they make Shirley Partridge out to be a little fancier than they do Carol Brady. I think both women are equal in looks, but Shirley seems to shine more.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Carol being married and Shirley not being married.

Maybe a little. Mostly, I think Shirley Jones just had more leverage because she had been a significant movie star in the 50s and had her own fans.

Look at their make-up and clothing. Shirley's does not scream rock star. Maybe a career woman. Carol looks so plain next to Shirley, but they are truly equal in off-screen looks.

As a poster noted earlier in this thread, Shirley Jones was a known movie star before she began PF. I really like Ms. Jones, not only is she very attractive, but she had a very good singing voice.
