In my many years of being online, I loved message boards like this one, but they seem now to be on the wane. I am a member of two message boards, this board and one more. There is a third message board I do read, and although interesting the "members" are mostly all left wing liberals who are annoying, and they are very quick to "ban" people they dont like.

I like politics and just general conversations about the World and culture. Are there any boards like this? I enjoy writing on boards (might notice this here), and would like to expand my scope.

Any other message boards? Not Facebook, Twit, or social media. Message boards like this.

Delphi Forums (https://www.delphiforums.com/n/pfx/common.aspx?webtag=delphihome&nav=sitepage&page=cats) is fast, free, and you can even create your own free forum...I've been going there since the 90's

LOL, I've even created "flying fur" forums over at Delphi, just so we could conclude "impassioned" debates that grew too heated for the comfort of moderators at more mainstream forums.

Sort of the digital age equivalent of "let's take it outside"

Which is kinda funny, how many people will follow the fight just as spectators. You always hear the moderators claim that other members do not wish to stand witness to 2 fools fighting. But my actual experiences are that MANY will follow, just to watch.

I've been on and off quite a few since 2005 and thanks Foggy for your list. I'll look at some...I miss City Data as it's got Everything and the Health areas that are favorite are there...but the Mods are cruel. So for their stupid reasons I'm off C-D. Their choice.

City Data is now down for good? I was a member of that board but sort of lost interest in it. However, every year on my birthday, I get a "Happy Birthday" message from them.

There is an interesting message board called The Straight Dope www.straightdope.com. It is interesting because the site has different sections where people can ask or comment on General Questions, Politics, Debate, Entertainment and other sections. My problem with this message board is that the "members" are 99 percent liberal, and does not really tolerate debate. They hate Trump, Republicans and Conservatism. If you go against them, the "moderators" ban you, and they know if you try to come back under a different e-mail and name. Plus they have their own language, two are "nitpick" and "hijack". "I dont mean to nitpick, but you are wrong." Hijack means to change the flow of the conversation.

Just no freedom on that board whatsoever and one has to be cautious of what you say. Facebook is about as bad, I get kicked off of Facebook for a month almost per month, for expressing a viewpoint. Because of Straight Dope, I hate the word "nitpick", but its their own little language of liberal, cross dressing know it all toadies. I would call them this but would get blocked from their message board and I do enjoy reading a lot of it.

This board is OK and after being a "member" (I word I dislike) since 2009, and just discovered this section very recently.

No City Data is going strong.

Interesting about Straight Dope and how liberal, I'll look at it and see what the Health group is all about. thanks.... I believe that the more liberal members, the more they are in bed with pharma and I'm NOT. I'll check it out and get a feel of it.

I was blocked from straightdope years ago,they thought I was posting spam........

Years later I contacted the admin and after a few days she clicked REVERSE and I was back on........... Then they went to garbage software which I dont like (And doesnt render well on IE6) so I stopped going.......
