With the Season 13 return (https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/134172-s13e01-keeping-the-faith/) of its procedural “Blue Bloods,” (https://www.reddit.com/r/bluebloods/) CBS was first in total viewers, averaging 6.4 million, according to official live plus same-day Nielsen data. But Fox came in first among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, wrestling its way to a 0.54 for “Friday Night Smackdown.”

Overall, CBS saw success with the return of its police dramas, including “S.W.A.T.,” which netted nearly 4.8 million average viewers and a 0.38 rating. The network also debuted its new firefighting series “Fire Country,” which drew the second largest audience of the night, with 5.9 million viewers on average and 0.4 rating in the key demo.

Fox once again took the ratings crown on Friday with the same average as last week. The long-running WWE competition show averaged a similar number of viewers as the week prior, roughly 2.2 million.

Here’s how primetime went down across the major broadcasters:

Fox was first in ratings with an average 0.54 rating in the key demo, while CBS was first in total viewers with an average of 5.7 million.

CBS was second in ratings with an average 0.4 in the demo, while ABC was second in total viewers with an average of 3 million, as well as third in ratings with a 0.37 demo rating.

ABC kicked off the night at 8 p.m. with an episode of “Shark Tank,” garnering a 0.47 demo rating and 3.4 million total viewers. The network followed up that hour with an installment of “20/20,” which aired from 9 to 11 p.m. and drew a 0.32 rating in the key demo and 2.8 million total viewers.
