"The Conners" Books William H. Macy for Season 5 Guest Stint

"Shameless" alum William H. Macy will guest-star in an upcoming episode of "The Conners" as Smitty, one of Dan’s best buds from high school who pays a visit to Lanford.

An airdate has not yet been announced.




Macy becomes the fourth "Shameless" actor to appear on "The Conners". The gig reunites him with his former "Shameless" TV daughter, Emma Kenney.

Noel Fisher recurred as Dan’s half-brother Ed Jr. in Season 2 and Ethan Cutkosky was recently cast as Louise and Neville’s nephew, Caleb. Katey Sagal (Louise) recurred throughout "Shameless" Season 9 as Dr. Ingrid Jones.

The Conners season 5 will soon welcome another guest star, and this cameo continues a surprising trend among the show's recent casting choices.

He is a really good actor and I have liked everything he has ever been in. I was a Shameless fan (until the last season or two). He was excellent as the scumbag alcoholic father Frank Gallagher. I would like to ask Macy was he did with his person hygiene during the series, since he was very scruffy, dirty, unshaven and unkempt. The series probably told him a day before a shoot to get really drunk, then just wake up and show up for work, dont shower or shave. Perfect.

Macy and I share a birthday, March 13th (along with L. Ron Hubbard, the insane man who invented Scientology). Macy is exactly 17 years older than me. Noel Fisher who played Mickey (who was on The Conners as Dan's long lost half brother) was born March 13, 1984, making him 17 years younger than me.

Coincidence? More than likely.
