This is another one of these Unsolved Mysteries segments that has apparently never been shown on Lifetime, but I am hopeful that someone would remember it:

This was about the unsolved murders of a mother and her young son in Texas. The double homicide occured on Christmas of 1981, which happened to be the little boy's fifth birthday! I also seem to remember that the bodies of the victms were found in a vacant lot, in or near the mother's car. At some point, the unknown killer went to a nearby store, trying to get access to a phone or something.

I might be misremembering some of the details, but I'm positive that it happened in Texas in Christmas of 1981, which was said to have been the young victim's fifth birthday. The segment in question aired in early 1994.

Do you remember any of the other stories from
that episode? I taped UM a lot in '94.

According to the 1987-1999 episode guide, the segment aired on April 27, 1994. The guide says that the same broadcast includes a story on the 1930s gangster Dutch Schultz in which he is said to have a buried treasure. Another segment listed there is on a couple who went to a motel in Georgia. One of them was murdered, and the killer was after some software equipment.

Hope this helps.

This is a year too late but hopefully I don't get chastized for digging this up:

I remember the case pretty well because of the murders happening on Xmas day and on the little boy's birthday. I also remember that the bodies were still warm when they were found, and that the murderer narrowly evaded capture. Finally, I recall that the sketch of the man was of a black male with sunglasses and (for whatever reason) his hand over his mouth.

UM had a book out in the mid-to-late 1990s with that case included. Don't recall the title.

Don't worry about it, Composite Sketch. Better late than never. :)

Anyway, I didn't know that UM had a book out in the 1990s. But if you don't recall the title, it's okay. There might be some way I can find out about this book. I'm resourceful in finding a lot of things via the Internet, so one never knows.

Anyway, thanks for the all the info. :)

Book? What book? I have searched for a long time trying to find a book about UM to no avail. There are however, books with the title Unsolved mysteries but does not pertain to the show. There's a lot of fans on theis website who would love to get their paws on a book based on the TV show so if you can remembwer any details, dates, etc. please let us know! Thanks
