They watch some. But it appears minimal. Wally & Beaver spend a lot of time laying in their bed with their clothes on basically doing nothing in the middle of the day. I was active with sports, friends, family outings and homework. But still watched tons & tons of tv.

What about the tv in Ward's den? Kids watching TV with all of Ward's prized possessions and personal paperwork seems an odd spot for a tv.

What were your go-to tv (few - many?) shows as a kid? I remember when "Batman" was on the neighborhood full of kids playing turned into a ghost town for a ½ hour.

We'd watch as a family before we got multiple TVs. Kids were the channel changers.

Ward doesn't apparently watch the evening news. Just read the paper. Local then national ½ hour news was a staple early evening. My dad would smoke & read the paper while watching the news to unwind after work.

Yep. They used that same joke when Beaver and Gilbert are watching TV.

That IS a great idea about the two brothers seeing their dad in a film. (How about H.B. in the 1951 comedy, “Callaway Went Thataway” with Fred MacMurray and Dorothy McGuire?)

Perhaps Wally and the Beaver might have been watching the 1953 sci-fi classic, “Invaders From Mars” (one of a young Steven Spielberg’s favorite films), and the boys spotted their much younger mom as astronomer Arthur Franz’s secretary at his observatory?

I’ll bet that Ward wouldn’t have nodded off if he and June had been watching “I Claudius” or “Breaking Bad” on television many years later.

Yep, Saturday morning I owned the TV, and only then. Eventually, the family got a 2nd TV, which helped--a Portacolor TV in a bedroom. Color was a big deal in the 60s.

You would also think Ward would watch sports on TV - golf, baseball, or football at least.

I think the kids probably watched TV more than we ever see given that each episode is just a small part of their life.

Saturday mornings was my time in front of the TV - Davy and Goliath, then the main cartoons until about 11AM, if the weather was nice I'd be gone outside after that, but if it was miserable, I might watch a Godzilla movie.

With the family, I can remember watching the original Hawaii 5-O with my dad, also remember watching shows like Hee Haw.

We had a TV in the basement family room (terrified alone watching Salem's Lot during its original airing), my parents had a TV in their room, I can remember watching the Wizard Of Oz for the first time in there. And a small black and white TV in the kitchen.

That is like my favorite movie to watch only because of the way they kept Tippi looking so damn good and how the love birds leaned into the curves when the car was turning the corners on the way to Bodega Bay.
