View Full Version : Should TeenNick be removed?
tenter 10-17-2022, 12:29 PM Yes, because there's literally no purpose for this channel, and already on autopilot, and literally only two shows: Henry Danger and America's Funniest Home Videos (Alfonso ones hosting version).
Late night slots were commercial free. No ad revenue for it.
Rest of other shows iCarly, Sam & Cat, Danger Force (the show renewed for season 3, on hiatus for now), Paradise Run.. were off the lineup weeks ago.
The only thing other shows airing were only new to TeenNick, like That Girl Lay Lay, NFL Slimetime, Young Dylan, Nick News, etc.. things like that.
Paramount Plus is the only thing that has more selection of shows.
stevea 10-17-2022, 03:34 PM You have to wonder why a cable company would waste bandwidth on this channel. But Comcast here (Eastern time zone) still has Nick2, which is nothing more than the West Coast Nick feed.
Maybe these are "we'll throw this in" channels from Viacom, to Comcast.
favoriteshow 10-17-2022, 07:41 PM Paramount hasn't been interested in consolidating down their channels. They could have closed out Pop also. They likely think the LGTBQ community needs Logo, so they are doing a public good with it.
I suppose with more channels = more ads so they keep them all.
Comcast/NBC was better at reducing their channel footprint, removing channels like Cloo.
icecream 10-17-2022, 11:03 PM Paramount hasn't been interested in consolidating down their channels. They could have closed out Pop also. That is a good thing. Pop is better than many channels simply because they air Scorpion.
tenter 10-18-2022, 12:31 PM I said Paramount Plus, I didn't actually say Paramount. Paramount Plus is a streaming site
https://www.paramountplus.com/
It has almost most of Nickelodeon shows, mostly from old and new.
update: didn't realize Paramount is a company (former: ViacomCBS)

I've never understood the Nick2 feed for the West Coast being carried everywhere (on Comcast, maybe more) for people not on the West Coast. It's the same shows, and more people watch On Demand these days, so it doesn't make sense, since Nick would *literally* be in the same Time Zone in the West Coast, would they not? I don't get what purpose Nick2 serves.
I'm guessing Nickelodeon is enough of a cash cow with endless SpongeBob and Loud House that they'll keep it and maybe the others get decent enough ratings it's good ad revenue and extra revenue for both Paramount/Viacom and the cable providers? Some food for thought. There are a number of cable channels that are a shell of their former self that I've wondered why they still exist.
tenter 10-18-2022, 12:58 PM Actually Nickelodeon nowadays is mostly spammed with movies, SpongeBob airings were slowly getting less. And Loud House get even WAY less airings. But SpongeBob used to be more spammed earlier this year, but things change when movies start to get more spammed every week that started few months ago.
Nicktoons network nowadays mostly SpongeBob and Loud House.
NickJr block on Nickelodeon mostly is PAW Patrol, Nick@Nite mostly consists Friends, as well as few other shows.
TeenNick is mostly Henry Danger and recently acquisition AFV.
nysfboy328@aim.c 10-21-2022, 12:19 AM Absolutely no way is TeenNick shutting down!
Hawkee 10-23-2022, 04:18 AM When TeenNick began life as The-N it was dubbed as the teenage version of Nickelodeon and since channels such as Disney Channel and Cartoon Network started to appeal to teens Nickelodeon followed suit and started copying them by developing a channel that would appeal to the crowd growing out of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. that was a channel aimed at teens at the 13 to 17 age range and so The-N was born and from the time it debuted The-N was indeed successful and with a wide lineup of shows aimed at teens such as Clarissa Explains It All and reruns of sitcoms such as Moesha and the new at the time Degrassi series and Daria reruns The-N knew how to attract an audience well. But I think when The-N renamed itself TeenNick you could tell that they were changing direction and when Nick Cannon became president of TeenNick that's when they started changing direction by developing their own sitcoms and drama series such as Instant Star and South Of Nowhere and while Degrassi continued to be a strong hit TeenNick soon realized that they needed more success to survive and so they added The Splat block filled with reruns of classic Nickelodeon shows such as Double Dare Nickelodeon Guts Legends Of The Hidden Temple Roundhouse Hey Dude and other shows. But I think why TeenNick has added shows like America's Funniest Home Videos is because I think this marks the end of TeenNick and they will plan to turn TeenNick into another sitcom channel of Nick At Nite and TV Land and the TeenNick programming will move to Paramount+ in a few years

Yong Fang 11-01-2022, 08:31 AM Most everyone has a mobile device with internet and Wifi and can watch any show current or past anytime they want now (paid, or for me, free).
I dislike the term ‘On Demand’. Demand is such a forceful term. “I DEMAND to watch this!” Or the jerk in the store who doesnt get their way DEMANDS to see the manager. DEMAND. It is an ugly word. How about REQUEST. Programming on REQUEST. Demanding is what Hitler used to do.
Svenfan1234 11-01-2022, 01:41 PM Oh, and for comparison, TeenNick had only 37,000 viewers last year (!!), and even Logo got more viewers with 41,000 viewers (still terrible, but oh well, they're there for more ad revenue anyway!)
Oh, and Pop TV was doing pretty poorly but better than TeenNick at 161,000 viewers which is likely to fall drastically. It's what's going to happen to cable.
tenter 11-01-2022, 02:42 PM TeenNick were less commercial though , and somehow were playing some music videos though commercial breaks. Even late night slots were commercial free.

I don't see how Comcast or any cable company could retain these unwatched channels. And they must make next to nothing on ads.

With 37,000 viewers nationwide they probably can't sell the time.
tenter 04-27-2023, 09:47 AM Sorry to bump up thread, but literally TeenNick is airing LOT of Henry Danger airings, and some Danger Force airings.
AFV, iCarly, and Wipeout are off the lineup for good.
So should TeenNick be removed? Sorry if Im asking again. There has been less ads in late night slots.
nysfboy328@aim.c 04-27-2023, 09:49 AM No. It should stay.
FHCastmember 04-27-2023, 12:52 PM If you have been keeping up with what Paramount has done you would see that Nick Splat Rewind block got moved to Nick on Pluto feed a year ago before ending. Most of Nick on Pluto's channel feed is Teen Nick.
They are replacing Teen Nick with Pluto Nick slowly. Honestly Nick on Pluto is more watchable in some aspects. Well except the 5 minutes of commercials.
tenter 04-27-2023, 01:02 PM No. It should stay.
Why?
You never wanted to include Henry Danger in schedules
tenter 04-27-2023, 01:06 PM No. It should stay.

NickPluto currently only airing iCarly, SpongeBob, Fairly OddParents, Loud House, The Casagrandes, and Henry Danger.
Currently TeenNick channel literally only airing Henry Danger, Danger Force, and Erin & Aaron. Check for zap2it for yourself
iCarly, America's Funniest Home Videos, and Wipeout (2008) are off the lineup being replaced by more Henry Danger
tenter 04-28-2023, 11:12 AM nysfboy, why do you want teennick to stay?
nysfboy328@aim.c 04-28-2023, 03:18 PM In case, Nick's new sitcoms air reruns on it.
tenter 04-28-2023, 03:36 PM In case, Nick's new sitcoms air reruns on it.
that's the dumb reason for that to keep TeenNick. Even Nick sometimes show reruns.
Young Dylan, That Girl Lay Lay, Really Loud House are also active live action shows but does NOT even show reruns since it's on hiatus for new episodes. Really Loud House has some short number episodes, while Young Dylan and That Girl Lay Lay both have enough handful of episodes.
TeenNick is literally on life support. And likely same for Nicktoons network I think.
The streaming for paramount plus and such seems to be having most (not all) Nick shows.
TeenNick doesn't seem to be airing AFV and Wipeout promos anymore.
tenter 07-27-2023, 01:40 PM I'm little worried, there hasn't been any Nick live action sitcom upcoming shows yet.
TeenNick channel as of this month, just advertised Henry Danger and Danger Force every single day. Actually Danger Force marathons only show Thursdays and Sundays.
Even with Zoey 101 returning for this week 4 night event, still doesn't help fix TeenNick. As well as other shows network premieres like Nick News. I know pluto totally teen is there: but only airing Zoey 101, original iCarly, Sam & Cat, Victorious. The promos has True Jackson VP and Every Witch Way but it's not currently on schedule yet.
Nick's current live actions isn't even airing on Nick anymore, not since after June 29. I've heard somewhere but not official that new episode Danger Force "Where's Schwoz" will air on Nick on Aug 17, to pick up where left off in last midseason cliffhanger.

They updated the logo for Teen Nick and Nicktoons to the new splat (for branding purposes) however the focus right now remains on Totally Teen, like I said which is why all of the Teen Nick shows are being moved to that channel.

I also mentioned that AFV and Wipeout that were the last acquisitions to air on TeenNick (that were off since last April), are now on hulu streaming.
I haven't watched (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpRoPCIEEUs) TeenNick (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/its-official-teen-nick-has-definitely-gone-downhill.5040308/) in quite some time, but whenever I look at (https://www.reddit.com/r/victorious/comments/14zopcj/does_teen_nick_still_have_a_programming_block_or/) their (https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/teennick-general-discussion.5554531/) schedule (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzVzWvO_Ue0), it's nothing but Henry Danger (https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroNickelodeon/comments/133gg2f/teennick_dont_you_mean_the_henry_danger_network/). Its sister channel, MTV of course, has essentially become the Ridiculousness channel in recent years, so it isn't that out of the ordinary.
tenter 01-31-2024, 06:24 PM Jan 31, 2022 marked the exact day that NickRewind block ceased the operations.
Pluto Totally Teen has been downgraded to 2 shows: iCarly and Victorious. iCarly also airs TeenNick every weekend.
Henry Danger one time only on MLK Day aired Totally Teen for one day marathon.
tenter 04-30-2024, 04:59 PM Looking at the current TeenNick schedule: literally only 4 shows nowadays: The Thundermans, Henry Danger, The Really Loud House, and The Loud House.
NOT Just TeenNick, but several other Nick side channels like NickJr channel, and Nicktoons are lacking variety, this had been case since around earlier this year..
But I think it's time for TeenNick to shut down (maybe in next few years or so in my opinion), since it's clear they're NOT going to shape up and improve, after what happened with Paramount industry weakening, and Quiet on Set allegations were posted in public since around last month.
2 weeks ago ratings from Apr 15-Apr 21, 2024: primetime - 17,000 viewers, average day - 14,000
It seems that TeenNick ratings still continues to decline more after recently what happened for Quiet on Set.
nysfboy328@aim.c 04-30-2024, 09:53 PM ^Can we stop talking about the channel shutting down? It's not happening.
tenter 05-01-2024, 06:16 AM ^Can we stop talking about the channel shutting down? It's not happening.
You obviously don't want to respect my opinion, so I will block you forever!
nysfboy328@aim.c 05-01-2024, 07:03 AM ^No. I do respect your opinion.
tenter 05-01-2024, 11:38 AM ^ OK fine. Also I won't bring up about TeenNick removed to upset you, that was just my prediction, NOT confirmation.
But what I said about TeenNick declining schedule is true.
