One thought that's out there is that is that in the alternate future, Jean-Luc Picard had developed Irumodic Syndrome (https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Irumodic_Syndrome). By having visited that future, Picard learned that he had a strong likelihood of developing it himself. So knowing this hurt his marriage to Beverly Crusher in that future, he avoided pursuing any romance with her.
