During “Magnum:P.I.’s” eight seasons, Thomas Magnum always seemed to be decked out in expensive clothes; the private investigator and former US Navy officer could be seen wearing Izod and J. Crew sports shirts, L.L. Bean khaki pants and during Magnum’s trip to London, England, a Burberry trench coat (which goes for over $1,000.00 dollars a pop).
Yet, Magnum is always said to be hurting for money, not even having two nickels to rub together and continually grubbing off of both Rick and T.C. How did the cash-strapped Magnum afford such an extensive and expensive wardrobe? The only clothing article Magnum never seemed to wear was socks. Even when Magnum was wearing a Brooks Brothers suit with imported British wingtip shoes, he never wore a pair of socks. I guess that’s some form of fashion statement on the part of the Honolulu-based P. I.?
Yes, the usually penurious Thomas Magnum’s flashy wardrobe was one of “Magnum: P.I.s’ greatest unsolved mysteries, even greater than Jonathan Higgins’ improbable head of hair.
