The show returned in mid-season of the 1980-81 season with a two part episode featuring the return of Aunt Esther
The show aired at 8pm on Friday nights and competed with Benson on ABC and the Incredible Hulk on CBS
After the premiere of the two part episode on 1/9/81, the show finished #56 out of 67 shows for the week. It ranked higher than Soap at #59 which was in its last season
The ratings continued to fall after the 2nd episode when show fell to #60 and the show was moved to 8:30pm
When the show continued to fall in the ratings, NBC took the show off the schedule after 1/30/81 airing
The following week the show was replaced by Brady Brides at 8:30pm
When the show returned to the NBC schedule in May of 1981, ratings was still the same after the 5/29/81 airing, the show ranked #57 out of 61 shows
By July 1981, Sanford was ranked one of the worst shows on TV and last airing was 7/10/81
