View Full Version : Favorite and least favorite episode
MichaelMartinD 09-28-2022, 09:07 AM I hope it's OK if I revive this well-worn topic, as this board has been rather inactive lately and I always like to hear what people's favorites are.
Favorite: "Wally and Dudley"
Least favorite is hard, but I guess I'll go with "Beaver, the Bunny"
GentlemanJim 09-28-2022, 10:42 AM For me, it has changed over the years. When I was Beaver's age my least favorite was the episode where Wally gets an older friend who is married, scares Ward and June out of concern that he's growing up too quickly, but then Wally discovers that all is not well for the little love birds.
That episode is now my favorite. The "Bullwinkle" expression on Wally's face is priceless!!
As far as least favorite now..........yeah "Beaver the Bunny" is pretty lame...so you got a good choice there. I seem to recall the episode where everybody expects Wally to be a life guard, but he doesn't get the job is pretty painful to watch, as well
Bonniegirl 09-28-2022, 03:21 PM Favorite : Wally the Lifeguard or the Picnic with the Rutherfords pos.the one where Beaver invites the homeless man in , so funny when he is taking a bath .
Least favorite : The one where Beaver is doing really bad in Gym! I felt so sorry for him in this ep. And Beaver and the Pigeons ( really sad episode)

Oh wow, The Lifeguard was one of my favorite episodes ! ;)
stevea 09-28-2022, 03:27 PM For a favorite I think quickly of "Nobody Loves Me"
For least favorite it's between "Beaver the Babysitter" and "Chuckie's New Shoes". Since the setup of the babysitter sitter episode is so unlikely (Wally thinks he would be sitting with Chuckie even though we later find out he's sat with Pat before), I'll pick it. That, and the fact the Chuckie seems to not know Beaver, which is ridiculous.
Beaver the Bunny: yes, he's too old, but you never know what some teacher will come up with. It could happen.

Great picks! Poor Beaver practicing batting alone, after dark (It's nobody's business--nobody but mine!").
And with the pigeons episode, he's trapped in his room with the chicken pox, and can't even take care of them. And then has to find out from Wally outside the room door, that the neighbors' cat got them.
Alan Brady's Hair 09-28-2022, 05:38 PM Favorite: Beaver Plays Hooky
Least: The Poor Loser
Sgt. Saunders 09-28-2022, 09:17 PM Favorite: “Gus and the Net,” when Beaver confronts his fears, while on a roller-coaster ride with Wally, Lumpy and the unfailingly “fearless” Eddie Haskell.
Least Favorite: It has to be the episode where the fourteen-year-old (?) Jerry Mathers is in that silly bunny outfit. What were the LITB writers thinking when they came up with that lousy story line? They probably were running out of new ideas for the show.

What kind of 8th grade is just animals in the Forest? In my opinion it would have better doing a scene or act from a Shakespeare or other play for the age of the youngters ie teens and the times that it was.
ThisLittlePiggy 09-29-2022, 04:52 PM Off the top of my head, I liked the ones where Wally sells ice cream bars and where he was going to be a lifeguard.
I dislike the one where Beaver gives June the silent treatment.
CosmicCharlie 09-29-2022, 05:35 PM I like Marlene one ? she's the wildest chick ever on the show - cigarettes / beer / bar fly / admitting shew put on an act for the parents - a taste of reality
I have a dislike for any tv show (s) that use monkeys ... kinda creepy
GentlemanJim 09-29-2022, 11:21 PM Oh wow, The Lifeguard was one of my favorite episodes ! ;)
I'm sorry,...I guess I picked the wrong one? :D:p:p:D
Favorite I guess is 'Wally's Practical Joke', but truthfully, I like so many others as well.
Least favorite is the one where Beaver has his friend "Chopper" staying for a visit.
( The bunny one is so obvious that's even lower than low-hanging fruit, in choosing a bad episode: it's rotting on the ground )
stevea 10-01-2022, 01:27 PM The Joke episode is another good one. It is hard to pick a favorite.
Tankeryanker 10-10-2022, 10:49 PM The one where Eddie and Lumpy follow the guys going camping and Eddie falls off the hill and onto a ledge. That was good because the stupid record they brought with them seemed so improbable.
My favorite is when Beaver and Gilbert play "house" in Ward's car and Gilbert wails the tar out of their make-believe daughter.
Oops, I said two good ones instead of one bad one. THe one where the neighbor moves in a Beaver wants to kiss his wife was pretty lame.
Yong Fang 11-02-2022, 01:08 PM My favorite episode was when Wally and Eddie get back at Lumpy for some slight and chain the axel of his car to a tree just meaning to stop his car and the axel rips right off with the boys running away.
The soup in the billboard episode. Just one example of how stupid Beaver was. I have argued before that Beaver was not an intelligent person and was easily duped. Even at his age, he should have known there wasnt real soup or boiling water up there. Even I might have investigated as a kid f how the billboard worked but not jump into the cup.
Beaver was an idiot. (Wally was smart) Change my mind.
stevea 11-02-2022, 05:36 PM The way the episode went Beaver was peering into the soup bowl, and it appeared he leaned over too far and fell in.
But right no one could argue the point. Time and again, he was duped into either doing something obviously wrong (wearing the monster sweatshirt to school) or something he didn't want to do for fear of some unknown problem (having a catch with Ward's souvenir baseball). Main enablers were Larry and Gilbert--but in the soup bowl episode, best-known, it was Whitey.
vitoscotti 11-02-2022, 06:27 PM Just 2 episodes before Whitey conned Beaver to climb up to peek into the soup bowl (In the Soup), Gilbert tricked Beaver to make an ugly face for the yearbook (The School Picture). So just 2 weeks! Ward & June called doctors for sniffles. But, Beaver being braindead is eh?
