Yes, I think the original Doyle Hobbs episode has generic credits minus cast. I don't remember noticing who played him in his second appearance (in an episode that also featured a young Barbara Eden) in season 4 (I think).
There are a good number of early episodes that have generic credits in syndication. Some of that was corrected on the DVD sets, except season 1, which was a total mess on DVD.

It was Roger Smith, both times. IMDB: "The character of Doyle Hobbs, played once again by Roger Smith, was first seen in season 2: Father Knows Best: Betty, Girl Engineer (1956)."
