Jo’s Secret
(Prologue) It was a warm summer in the Bronx during the summer of 1977. 13-year-old Jo Polniaczek just got back from a long day with her boyfriend James Walker.
Jo: (kissing James)
James: (kissing back and then stopping it for lack of air.) I love you.
Jo: I love you too. (Goes over to the couch to watch TV)
James: (Joins her)
(Phone rings and Jo answers it)
Jo: hello.
Jessie, Jo’s best friend is on the other line: Hey Jo, what’s up?
Jo: James and I just got back from Skateboarding. You?
Jessie: nothing much.
(Jessie and Jo talk for about 30min while James watches TV)
Jo’s mom enters
Jo: hey Jessie I have got to go mom’s home and dinner will be soon. Bye
Jessie: bye (hangs up)
Jo: (hangs up)
Rose: hey hunney. (Hug’s Jo) Hey James how are you?
James: good.
Jo’s Dad enters (pretend he didn’t leave them ok?)
Charlie: hey Jo. (Hugs her)
Jo: (Hug’s back)
James: Hi Mr. Polniaczek.
Charlie: How many times have I told u to call me Charlie?
James: Sorry Charlie forgot.
Charlie: its ok. Do you want to stay for dinner? It’s Pizza tonight.
James: let me call my mom and ask. (Calls his parents) ok I’ll stay.
Jo: great. (Sits back down on the couch next to him.)
James: (smiles and puts his arm around Jo)
Jo: (Is now smiling also and leans into him)
(30 min later the pizza is done and everyone is sitting at the table eating)
Rose: I have something important to say………
Charlie: What???
Jo: What?
James: I hate to meddle in other people’s lives, but what is so important???
Rose: I’m…….

Charlie: What!(shocked)
(Jo can tell that its not Charlies baby and she runs out the door)
James: Excuse me.(gets up and runs after Jo)
(On the street)
James: Jo slow down(outta breath)
Jo: (crying hard) James why did you come after me?
James: Cause I love you and care about you.
Jo: (crying harder) At least someone does.
James: Jo whats wrong?
Jo: Its not Dads baby. Did you see the look on his face?
James: No I guess I didn't.
Jo: Well I did.
James: I'm so sorry.(wraps his arms around Jo and lets her cry)
(5 minutes later Charlie comes up to Jo and James)
Charlie: Jo are you ok?
Jo: Dad do I look ok!
Charlie: Jo I know this is hard on you.
Jo: Dad just tell me something whos baby is it.
Charlie: Her bosses.
Jo: What?!(breakes free from James's arms) How could she do this to us!

James: ok I’ll go home see you tomorrow
Charlie: I’ll be inside K?
Jo: K
Charlie: (exits)
James: (kisses Jo passionately) Bye
Jo: bye.
James: (exits)
Jo: (to herself) now its time to go on a bike ride. (goes to her fathers bike and starts it then rides off. She knows how to ride since she has been doing this since she was 12. She rides off towards a friends house with a incredible fake ID that can get beer and she gets drunk and decides to ride home luckily she makes it and makes it in without making any noise and goes to her bed and falls asleep)
(The next Morning)
Jo: (wakes up around 9:30 and yawns) (to herself) I’m gonna take a shower then call James. (goes takes a shower then calls James and askes him to come over.)
James: yea I can come over. I’ll be there immediately.
Jo: thanks.
James: no problem. See you soon. (hangs up)
Jo: (opens the door as soon as James gets there then gives him a lingering kiss) Hey baby.
James: hey. So how are you doing?
Jo: my head hurts
James: U didn’t drink did u?
Jo: um I don’t remember.
James: you did didn’t u.
Jo: yea. I did.
James: I forgive you just u cant solve all your problems like that.
Jo: I know.

Jo: I rode dads bike.

Jo: James I didn't know what else to do. (starts to cry)
James: (puts his arms around Jo) Jo I got to go. I got a suprise for you though.
Jo: What is it?
James: You'll see tonight.
Jo: Will I like it?
James: I think you will. I'll come back when I get back ok?
Jo: Ok. I love you.
James: I love you too. Bye(kisses her then heads out)
Jo: bye. (runs upstairs to the bathroom) I'm gonna go call Jessie.(goes to the phone and dials Jessie's number)
Jessie: Hello?
Jo: Hey Jessie.
Jessie: Jo whats up?
Jo: my life is ruined.
Jessie: Did James dump you?
Jo: No he didn't.
Jessie: Then whats so bad?
Jo: Mom slept with her boss and shes three weeks pregnant.
Jessie: Ouch.
Jo: Yea. Do you know whats really bad?
Jessie: Worse then your mom sleeping with her boss.
Jo: Good point but she said that when James was over.
Jessie: Yep thats bad.
(Jo and Jessie talk for about another hour until Jo hears the doorbell ring(
Jo: Jessie I gotta go someones here. Bye(hangs up)
Jessie: (hangs up)
Jo: (answers the door and sees her ex b/f) What are you doing here?
Devin: I cam to see you.
Jo: Well you saw me now bye.
Devin: Wait I gotta ask you something.
Jo: No Devin I will not leave James and come back to you.
Devin: But Jo.
Jo: No buts. Bye. (as Devin is leaving Jo sees James on his way over) Hey you.(kisses James)
James: Hey. Doing any better.
Jo: My head still hurts.
James: Whats Devin doing here?
Jo: He wants me to leave you and take him back. Even thoigh he knows I won;t do that.
Devin : What do you see in him.
Jo: He cares about me! Unlike you. Now get out!
James: Jo your the best.
Jo: Thanks.
James: Do you wanna go grab a bite to eat?
Jo: Or do you wanna eat here?
James: Did you have anything in mind?
Jo: I was about to warm up a pizza pocket. Do you want one?
James: Sure.
