Since this is my brilliant idea, I'll start -

60 Minutes
Saturday Night Live
Big Bang Theory
The Simpsons
Law and Order

If we can consider spin offs as part of the original series, Star Trek and all of its iterations would replace The Simpsons (Yes, I'm a Trek fan :) ).

The listed shows have two things in common -they're long-running and I like them.

Shows that didn't make the cut: Dr. Who, Meet The Press, Bonanza, Gunsmoke. Long-running all, but I didn't like them.

Shows bubbling just under the five listed: NCIS, M*A*S*H, King of the Hill

I think the two long-running series from PBS Nova and Nature....just to make sure I have an ample supply of material to view without insane repetition .

Gunsmoke, including the B&W era...mostly for the wealth of guest stars

I Dream of Jeannie ..... eye candy

And Seinfeld, .......just to remind me that NOT being rescued has it's merits.
