View Full Version : TVLand airing episode "uncle Sonny" today hue_mee 08-11-2002, 09:42 AM I was browsing the tvland scheduale and noticed Tvland was airing the episode "Uncle Sonny" . 2:00pm central time. Is this a possible trend or special happening this weekend. hue_mee 08-11-2002, 09:48 AM unfortunately this particular episode does not involve our sweet Freddie!! Drats! Anyone know what is going on with TVLand? Sean Snow 08-11-2002, 11:33 AM It's airing as part of TV Land's 'Box Set'. This Sunday's theme is "One Role, Two Actors". TV Land doesn't have any more CATM episodes scheduled for this month. catcopy18 08-11-2002, 02:41 PM Are you serious??!! - no Freddie in this episode? Well then as far as I'm concerned it's a waste of their time and energy to even play it!! I had gotten my VHS all ready and primed up for a new episode that I hadn't seen before and now I know why. I had stopped watching CATM after I had seen a few episodes without our dear PrinZe! It just wasn't the same!!!! I guess I'll go take my tape out and now I certainly won't get as excited about seeing it this afternoon - BUMMER!!!! Thanks Suzanne for the heads up!!!!! :( Prince 08-11-2002, 11:55 PM You are so right catcopy. Without the Prinze Magic to carry the show it would be a waste of time to watch it. I'm sure even Jack would agree with our opinion. BTW....love you avatar...very cool. Joy 08-12-2002, 12:33 PM I know I have said it before and I'll say it again. for the two for one role they could have chosen the invention episode because Jack played Ed and the rich guy who scammed the scam artist. A much better choice in my humble opinon MariposaLKB 08-12-2002, 12:50 PM I agree, Joy! That was one of the funniest things ever seen on CATM--particularly when Jack nearly hit Freddie in a very sensitive spot with his cane LOL! I can just imagine it was accidental on Jack's part and Freddie's reaction (starting to cover himself with his hands, then apparently realizing how that would look to the audience and simply changing his position to stand on Jack's other side) was purely instinctive! But it made the scene that much funnier! Joy 08-12-2002, 07:13 PM Mariposa, as my 92 year old aunt says, believe it or not by ripley I caught that scene the first time I saw it-unlike so many other classic moments and I loved it! Don't you wish they would find some blooper footage of those two? That could be valuable!!! MariposaLKB 08-12-2002, 07:24 PM Joy, unlike you, I had to have someone point that bit out to me, and I ran right for my tape and checked it out hee hee! And I have seen the "Star Trek" blooper reel, but I know that if there were a CATM one, it would have that beat by a looong mile LOL! Considering Freddie's reputation as a practical joker I can just imagine! Cheryl Harrell 08-13-2002, 02:47 AM I can understand them wanting to finish out the season. But what they should've done instead of continuing was finish out the season writing Chicos death in there & paying tribute to him & the show. Raul was a cute & precocious kid & I liked him but it was no Chico. What I hated was how they wrote Chico out as going to visit his Father in Escanida & didn't tell he had died until much later. Come on we deserved to know the truth & have it reflected in the show & ended out the season tributing him & then the show go off tv except for re-runs. I thought the show died with Freddie then found out they were getting Raul. They made such a big deal of it for awhile. I still watched it & liked it but it was no Freddie. The Freddie yrs were the best. We lost a dear boy way too soon... :crying: tylersmistress2002 08-13-2002, 04:17 PM Not to take away from the little boy who played the part...but....he was NOT Chico. The show should just have been cancelled after Freddies untimely passing. I cannot watch the episodes after he was gone.....it was just a painful reminder. Joy 08-13-2002, 06:51 PM My sentiments exactly TylersM! I did start to watch the sonny episode but i kept expecting Chico to come along and it was too much and the way they tried to cover up the door to his apartment like it wasn't even there was too sad. If it's painful for us just imagine what poor jack had to endure for the reainder of the shows run,the professional that he was. hue_mee 08-13-2002, 07:18 PM When the Chico and the man aired that weekend, I had high hopes to see Chico again till I looked up the episode finding no Freddie involved. I saw bits and pieces of it. The scene showing the apartment creeped me out knowing that Chico wasn't coming out anytime soon, I turned the channel imediately wishing TVLand would air the series over again and if they aired the CATM again for any other type of propaganda to attract any viewers that they would show a Freddie episode. Joy 08-13-2002, 08:02 PM I agree that was creepy and I think they should bring CATM back on get smart, beaver, Mannix and Gunsmoke have been on forever Impressions 08-13-2002, 08:32 PM Originally post by Joy I agree that was creepy and I think they should bring CATM back on get smart, beaver, Mannix and Gunsmoke have been on forever Mannix left TV Land on May 1st of earlier this year, It currently dosen't air. Cheryl Harrell 08-14-2002, 05:18 AM It's a shame they took off Mannix as I liked that show too. I like the other shows mentioned too... However it was a real crime that they took CATM off when it hadn't even been on a yr. &That stuff about the contract being up then. That's the shortest contract in history for re-runs then. They need to bring it back. Don't they realize how many people love the show & want it back???? :( Joy 08-14-2002, 07:50 AM I liked what you said about the shortest contract for re runs! It does seem like (on all channels) shows like Andy Griffith, bewitched, and Gilligans Island have never ending contracts. I wonder do that actors(or their families) still get some amount of $ for re runs? Cheryl Harrell 08-15-2002, 02:34 AM I think I read somewhere that the folks on those shows like that didn't get much residuals. I did read something in a magazine in a store yesterday that bothered me. It said that larry Jones who is TVLANDS president is hoping that one day current shows like FRASIER & some new shows I've never seen before get aired on TVLAND one day. Sorry but those aren't classic tv even tho FRASIER is a nice show. To me classic tv is 50's/60's & 70's shows. If they ever get rid of all those shows of those eras they will definately do themselves in... Joy 08-15-2002, 09:26 AM I agree with you Cheryl I know that's the way Tv land is headed though when they have future classics. I think they said Malcolm in the middle is a future classic. I hope they dom't forget the true classics. SitcomsAreTheWay 08-19-2002, 12:52 AM I'm becoming more and more annoyed with TVLand. They air everything from The Beverly Hillbillies to Barney Miller and they can't squeeze CATM into the line-up? Sheesh. Joy 08-19-2002, 01:27 PM I couldn't agree with you more about Tv land- and that show get smart! Really that has to be on of the dumbest and it's always on! Karen64 08-19-2002, 09:25 PM It makes me mad that some of the dumbest shows get played over and over and over, while the good shows, like CATM rarely get airtime! Even some of the good, classic reruns, like All in the Family, or I Love Lucy get played and played to death! I wish CATM reruns would get that kind of airtime! If playing those reruns in those few short months brought out so many old and new fans alike, imagine what kind of following CATM could get if it got shown more! Joy 08-19-2002, 09:40 PM AMEN! I know, Get Smart has to be the worst of the worst. It's so annoying and it makes no sense. Then when the network finally does air an episode of CATM, Freddie isn't in it. I love Jack also, but what good is it without his(Jack) other half. Cheryl Harrell 08-20-2002, 02:31 AM Fortunately I like GET SMART & the other shows they show on TVLAND. I just wish they would bring CATM back. I remember watching GET SMART whsen it was origionally on in the 60's & my mom thought it was a dumb show & when she'd see me watching it she'd comment on how dumb it & Don Adams was. Some of those old show like that that I like were really dumb but you loved them anyway cuz it was a good kind of dumb... Well I like some of the shows in which they are currently airing but, if they have room to air all of those shows then why can't they make room for CATM? I'm just mad at TVLand right now.Don't worry though, I'll forgive the network when they air CATM again. |
