It is a sad day in jazz music today as it has been announced that Ramsey Lewis of The Ramsey Lewis Trio has passed away at age 87. The Ramsey Lewis Trio was best known for the hit song The In Crowd which was a huge instrumental hit during the 60's and started out as a hit for The Impressions. Ramsey Lewis was a awesome planist and his style influenced many pianists in jazz music today. Another fun fact about The Ramsey Lewis Trio was that a fellow by the name of Maurice White played along with The Ramsey Lewis Trio in a band called The Salty Peppers who we know now as Earth Wind And Fire and Ramsey Lewis was Maurice White's first chance at fame and the rest of the story is history
