Having a kid and then just taking your own name and tacking junior on to it. Heartwarming family tradition, or narcissistic ego trip?
Or just basic laziness.

GentlemanJim 09-11-2022, 12:50 AM Better than giving the boy a middle name of "Rosebud". https://youtu.be/oxTQiuj0P_U?t=1013 Zoneboy 09-11-2022, 02:50 AM In the south it's a family tradition although it's never happened on either side of my family that I can recall. Here's one, how many famous Juniors overshadowed the success of their father? 2 that quickly come to mind are Ken Griffey Jr. and Cal Ripken Jr. Bonniegirl 09-11-2022, 08:48 AM Having a kid and then just taking your own name and tacking junior on to it. If Annie had been a boy would she have been named Max Horvath Jr. ?? :D:wave: opus 09-11-2022, 11:58 AM 2 that quickly come to mind are Ken Griffey Jr. and Cal Ripken Jr. Nice. It was actually sports people, including those two and various people I saw playing college football yesterday, that inspired this post. opus 09-11-2022, 11:59 AM If Annie had been a boy would she have been named Max Horvath Jr. ?? :D:wave: Did you ever notice it’s always on the male side? You never see a Valerie Bertinelli, Jr. Caroline13 09-11-2022, 01:54 PM I don't see it as an ego thing, I like the name Ann, my mom is Ann, my middle name is Ann, and my grandgirl is Anna, I like it and it continues. My mil liked Jennifer Jones and so my ex and I named our daughter Jenifer to please mil I guess....but we spelled it differently and middle name is Jeanne after an aunt on her dad's side. It's nice to honor a person with carrying on the name. There are a lot of Valerie's out there and I see Bertinelli's middle name is Anne. Wonder if Valerie named their son after Puck???? GentlemanJim 09-11-2022, 03:09 PM George Foreman has 5 sons named George, as well as a daughter named Georgetta. There are also two brothers in professional baseball named Wilmer Flores, who also have a 3rd brother named Wilmer...each having a different middle name. I guess customs vary? Caroline13 09-11-2022, 07:05 PM It’s a Heartwarming Family Traditon Yes this is true, but it seems a member here has a problem with heartwarming.... As I said above my middle name is the same as my mom's first name...if they planned it that way or it happened that way, it's the way it is.
