Do you agree with the following assessments (https://www.quora.com/What-is-something-from-Frasier-that-is-really-kind-of-dark-but-gets-ignored/answer/Jon-Mixon-1):
Unless Daphne was truly dense or completely clueless, she had to have known how Niles felt about her far sooner and she should have addressed it in some manner far sooner - She wasn’t a young girl and she clearly had to have been in situation where men had feelings for her that she either didn’t reciprocate or didn’t reciprocate at the time. While it made for good “Will they?/ Won’t they?” narrative filler, it really makes her character appear to be flighty or simply cruel for not clearing the air sooner.
Niles and Frasier’s embarrassment of their father was sad - While it might have been “understandable” when they were children or even young adults, that they didn’t seem to have come to terms with it when they were approaching middle age really demonstrated a lack of character on their part.
No one points out Frasier lack of closeness with his son - Although the narrative couldn’t have worked if Frasier had a kid in tow, the fact that he lived clear across the United States from his only child who was still a minor really should have been something addressed by his father or Niles. The series doesn’t even seem to have Frasier himself be introspective about the situation which ironically he created.
The “Roz has a baby” narrative was odd, and frankly, unnecessary - Roz, a single woman approaching middle age has a baby in what was essentially a short term sexual relationship. Although the series points out the financial strains this causes her, it never exams the fact it was more likely that a working woman Roz’s age would have almost certainly weighed the available options and had an abortion, quietly. Additionally, the baby was moved to the rear of the overall narrative far too quickly, despite it being a life-changing event for the Roz character. Basically the child seems to have been introduced to enhance the series’ overall storyline and then “dumped” when it was no longer needed.
Niles’ cracks about Roz’s dating and sex lives were really not that funny when viewed now, years later - For a man who was visibly pining away for a woman who he saw nearly daily and who was essentially ignoring him, Niles was surprisingly not very sympathetic to Roz’s plight. In fact, he was really kind of a d*ck about things as her personal life really wasn’t any of HIS business. It was almost as if he was taking advantage of her being his brother’s employee to make comments from a safe perspective.
