Emily Hampshire is turning 41 today. Hampshire was born and grew up in Montreal, and began acting in school productions. She began working in Canadian film and television in her teens.
Hampshire is best known for her role on Schitt’s Creek, as Stevie Budd, the desk clerk at the town motel. While her character later became the motel’s owner, Hampshire herself came to “own” something too–the Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, which she won for six straight years.

While today she is best known for her television work, Hampshire has starred in a long list of Canadian features. Her first lead role was opposite Sean Astin in the rom-com Boy Meets Girl. She has worked regularly with actor/director Jacob Tierney, in films such as Twist, Blood and The Trotsky. She also has done offbeat comedies such as A Problem With Fear and My Awkward Sexual Adventure.
At the same time as she was a regular on Schitt’s Creek, Hampshire was also starring on the SyFy channel series 12 Monkeys, adapted from the 1995 feature. Last year, she began starrring on the Epix series Chapelwaite, adapted from Stephen King’s story “Jerusalem’s Lot.” Later this year she will star on the Amazon thriller series The Rig.
