When you listen to music, do you pay close attention to the lyrics, or is it more of just the music, period? In other words, do you listen to music based on the lyrics (as well as the music)?

I definitely do. If I can't identify with the song or get a good feeling of what the song is about, I prolly won't like it. I don't know, why I'm asking this question -- just curious, I guess! :happyface :happyface :happyface

Well the music is what grabs my attention first then I listen to the lyrics. A song can have really good lyrics but if I don't like the way the music sounds I don't listen to it.

I guess for me it's half and half. Sometimes the music is what I like and sometimes the lyrics.

Usually the lyrics. Lyrics have an important meaning... well to me they do. I dunno. I'm weird.

For me, it's usually the lyrics. I have to memorize a song if I find that I like it. I just have to or I won't be able to sing it, lol. After I've memorized the lyrics, though, I like to go back and listen past the singer to the actual music... I study that and eventually I pretty much memorize that too.

I am too obsessed with music.

That's what I do too.

I dunno. I like....kinda listen to 'em. I try to figger out what the song means. Then I just listen to it. It's hard to explain. LoL.

Just to the music. Sometimes the words, as well, but rarely. :D

Same here. If I like the lyrics, I memorize them, if not, I just space them out.

yah I do, I really think about songs and try to pick apart the meanings, we had a project in history a couple years ago to do that to a song...and ever since then Ive looked at music in a whole different way

I'd say most of the time it's the music. But, they're are some songs with lyrics that I really listen too.

I listen to the music, then the words, then memorize them.

The first thing I listen for is the music I really like to listen to the harmonys in a song then I listen for the lyrics and I try to pick songs with good meanings.

The music and the lyrics are equally important for me.

Usually if its a calm song, I listen to the lyrics. But when its loud music, I don't really listen to the lyrics.
