So we're all familiar with the infamous clip episodes that were used in many sitcoms that normally highlighted a "best of" in a show and was a great money saving cost to fill in an episode order.

But for sitcoms that were taped with a live audience how exactly were these shown, was there an actual audience there for the taping of the intro and outro? Was it the leftover audience from the prior taping or was there just a laugh track used in the final broadcast airing?
