The brief ceremony will take place in the front yard of Colvin House, 5940 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago, which is kitty corner from the Thorndale Beach North Condominiums. That building was prominently featured as the fictional home of Bob and Emily Hartley in the hugely popular, long running television sitcom The Bob Newhart Show, which premiered 50 years ago this September. Fans and community residents will toast Newhart, who grew up in the Chicago area and was a graduate of nearby Loyola University, and will turn 93 on Sept. 5. No reservations are required.
