4 years isn’t too bad for a puppet.

If there was a 5th season and it was done the same way with the Tanners, I believe Lynn would have married Robert. I feel that's how the series should have ended. The show wasn't all about her, but she grew up on there and was at the age of over 18 when it ended. Robert was a good guy and the family seemed to like him. With hoe they were finishing up the 4th season, it seemed like if there was a season 5 he would have proposed to her.

I feel they could have done a nice series finale with that, inviting all the major guest stars over the last few seasons...Trevor, Raquel, Jake, Larry, Jodi, Neal...all of them there for Lynn's wedding.

I don't think ALF would have gone back to his planet in the series finale, I feel he would have taken Lynn's room as his own, even if he had the chance again to go back to Melmac.

Hello! I like Alf! I think it's good that to my knowledge that this is available to watch on YouTube! I like this and certain other shows from the 80's! I think this show is unique and unrepeatable!

I don't know this is the absolute reason, but I wouldn't be surprised if NBC was tired of dealing with Paul Fusco. For instance, he would make demands (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Trivia/ALF) that ALF be treated as an actual person and not a puppet (https://www.alftv.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=478).

ALF is one of my all-time favorite shows. I can watch it repeatedly and laugh at the same jokes and situations over and over. I love ALF. Willie is my next favorite character, and then Lynn.

Andrea Elson (who suffered from bulimia during the second season of shooting) stated, "If ALF had gone one more year, everybody would have lost it."

I thought Melmac was supposed to have been destroyed, so Alf wouldn't have had a planet to return to.
