Who can remember when Disney announced a remake of Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella as part of The Wonderful World Of Disney hour on ABC in 1998 that starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother? I saw a commercial on ABC that they are gonna have a reunion show that features the cast of the 1998 version of Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella talking about the movie minus Whitney Houston and so it makes me think that Disney is rereleasing the movie in a new special edition with more songs and extended scenes. I was shocked when I first saw this movie because Brandy was superb as Cinderella and Whitney Houston was flawless as the Fairy Godmother and Bernadette Peters was a humorous stepmother

Hi, Bestie! I liked hat version of Cinderella. Bernadette Peters had the best song "Falling in love with love". What was your favorite song?

After the reunion special they will be airing the movie as well at 9:00 eastern. I am interested in the movie, but only if put on demand as first hour is on against America's Got Talent performance episode. My favorite Cinderella movies are the Drew Barrymore and Lily James versions, but those don't add the musical element.

When ABC and Disney announced that they were gonna make a new version of Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella for TV little did ABC know that this would be the movie that would score huge ratings for ABC and become one of the most popular movies of The Wonderful World Of Disney movie series. And when it made it's debut in 1998 the story was true as it gained huge ratings for ABC and became popular. Of course the main reason why Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella gained such high ratings was casting Brandy in the role of Cinderella because at the time Brandy was cast as Cinderella she was a big star due to her success with her second album Never Say Never and Cinderella proved that she could add movies to her resume after sitcom successes with Thea and Moesha. How Whitney Houston got cast as the Fairy Godmother i'll never figure out because I think this role was meant for Whitney because not only was she a perfect Fairy Godmother but the role was tailor-made for her. The only problem I had is in this version of Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella is while this version was supposed to have all the classic songs from the original movie why they made the song Falling In Love With Love associated with Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella when it originally debuted in Rodgers And Hammerstein's The Boys From Syracuse? That I found very odd but at least Whitney Houston got to sing the finale song There's Music In You so great and it fit the wedding scene perfect like a glove. And this movie actually turned Victor Garber into a big superstar by starring in ABC's Alias and becoming huge as a cartoon voice actor and he has made a name for himself in TV. But I think next to Brandy in this Cinderella Bernadette Peters was the second star in the movie because as I mentioned in my opening post in this thread Bernadette shows her Broadway talents well and that's probably why they cast her as the stepmother and she made the film so fun to watch. But I have to say if there is one TV movie you have to see this version of Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella is a film that stands the test of time

Brandy Returning as Cinderella in 4th Descendants Movie The Pocketwatch
by Andy Swift
November 21, 2022
More than two decades after starring in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella for ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney, Brandy Norwood is dusting off her crown to play Cinderella once again in The Pocketwatch, a new movie in the Descendants franchise, coming soon to Disney+.
The Pocketwatch will return viewers to Auradon and the Isle of the Lost before taking them “through the rabbit hole to the hostile unincorporated territory of Wonderland, a magical, mysterious place made famous in Alice in Wonderland,” per the movie’s official description.
The story centers around “polar opposites” Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella, and Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts (played by Rita Ora).
The unlikely duo meet “at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out. In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.”
