Did they have it later or soon after Ward came home? Do we ever see the boys go out and play/do stuff after dinner?

I do not remember the boys going out after dinner.

Didn't it always appear dark outside during dinner (and always light early morning) 12 months a year if a window or out of the front door views were shown (if someone came to the door). Maybe Mayfield is in Alaska with the early sunsets at night, and moves to Maine for the early sunrises in the morning?

This is what got me thinking about it. It always seemed dark outside around dinner time. I get it in the winter, but what about the summer months?

Yes, when they did an establishing shot of the house that morphed to the dining room, it was dark.

So being the stickler June was, i'd say they ate promptly at six, unless we're talking about when they just moved into the new house--then June had trouble with the oven--then it was 6:45.
