View Full Version : What do you have of the Golden Girls?
jayman75 08-09-2002, 06:28 PM I'm just curious if anyone here has any scripts, props, autographs, or anything else of The Golden Girls...
The only thing I have is Betty White's book, "Here We Go Again," which is signed...
Anyone else??:talk:
GoldenFamilyTies 08-09-2002, 06:33 PM I have an autographed picture of Betty White with a little note on it.
angel676 08-09-2002, 08:55 PM I only have episodes and a picture of the
Golden Girls, but it's not autographed.
TheGoldenGirlsUK 08-11-2002, 06:35 PM I haven't got any signed photographs (yet) ;) but I have an extremely rare Golden Girls Book which has 10 scripts from the series and 15 pages of photographs. I bought it on ebay recently. You can find out more about it @ http://www.the-goldengirls.com/Book/book.html :)

FOLrocks1 08-11-2002, 10:40 PM GoldenGirlsUK, How much did you pay for this book? Oh, I have Betty and Rue's Autographs and a GG pilot episode script.
RueMcClanahanFan 08-12-2002, 02:49 AM Oh, geez. I'm slowing down, but for a while I was pretty much obsessed with collecting any GG/Rue memorabilia I could get my hot little hands on. I have a lot of Rue stuff, but in terms of Golden Girls-specific items... ummm....
-A sweater Rue wore on the show (in the episode where Blanche dates Rex, the verbally abusive boyfriend)
-3 cast photos signed by just Rue
-2 cast photos signed by Rue and Betty
-TV Guides (3), magazine articles and other various clippings
-15-20 unsigned publicity photos
I also have some scripts that I downloaded off the internet (the web site's not up anymore). I collect specifically just-Rue memorabilia (wardrobe pieces, autographs, photos, videos, magazines, playbills, scripts, etc.). That's probably where most of my money goes, actually. Haha!
I have Estelle's book (but no autographs), 2 index cards signed by Bea (one I got through the mail and the other I purchased), and a handful of Betty autographs (4 photos and a letter). I have a bunch of unsigned photos of Betty that I got from her fan club, and 3 of her books. Admittedly, of her 3 books, the only one I've read is "In Person." I've read a bit/skimmed "Here We Go Again" (I accidentally got 2 copies of that one, one signed and inscribed) and I've only looked at the pictures in "Leading Lady."
Anyway, I have scans of some of my stuff @ http://www.theruecrew.com/html/collecting.html (I don't have the Blanche sweater on there yet, though, because I just got it last week. I'll add that when I get a pic soon.)

It was just over £28-00 british pounds, that's around $42-00 USD. That was actually a reasonable price as the book had sold for well over $100-00 USD previously. I had to put in a VERY high proxy bid to ensure I won the book.

LOL, Katie, I think you'd beat just about anyone with that smart collection of GG goodies! I bet you cost a fortune to insure ;)

Czas na Zywiec 08-12-2002, 12:38 PM Nothing.
RueMcClanahanFan 08-13-2002, 12:21 AM LOL! I don't know, Sam, that script book of yours is a pretty hot item. Especially since I once saw it go on eBay not just over $100, but over $250!! The fact that there were 3 copies listed when you bought it was an AMAZING fluke that will probably never happen again. That was really cool!
Funny you should mention about insurance. I've always been curious as to what some of my items would actually be valued at. Obviously nothing is worth all that much proabably, but it would be really interesting to find out. Of course, the sentimental value, especially of the in-person autographs, is priceless and you really can't assign a dollar value to that, but out of curiosity, it would be fun to know.

Really, it went for over $250?? That's like £160 over here! Good grief, that's outrageous! I put in a high proxy bid of about £30-£40 for the book but thankfully it never reached that much! Remember I said to you beforehand that I'd only be prepared to pay up to £15, haha, it went a little more beyond that and could have gone much further but once I'd got into the idea I just knew I had to have it. It's nice to know I own something very rare and sought after and I'm just pleased some people out there didn't realise how sought after it was otherwise they might never have even put it up for auction in the first place!
Sam
RueMcClanahanFan 08-15-2002, 01:10 AM Yeah, it went for around $256, I think. This was a long time ago when I first started using eBay and that was the first time I saw it listed. I've also seen it go for $180-some. In the 2 years I've been using eBay, what you paid is the cheapest I have ever seen that book go for. You really lucked out on that one!!

jayman75 08-18-2002, 10:17 PM I guess I'm going to have to check this book out...
Second... I'm amazed at some of the collections people have. I think it's so cool to own something from a show like TGG.
Jordan 08-18-2002, 11:43 PM I've got about 85 (give or take a few) episodes on tape, but that's it. :happyface :happyface :happyface
TheGoldenGirlsUK 08-19-2002, 08:54 AM Oh yeah, and I have all 180 episodes on tape. That was my ultimate goal and thankfully I was able to achieve my dream when LivingTV in the UK started running them from 1st January. They hadn't been on our screens in England for years so I'd almost resigned myself to the fact that I'd never get to see anymore than the 2 and a half seasons I already had on tape...and the quality of these tapes were steadily on the decline after constant watching.

It's on ebay RIGHT NOW!! I may have to bid...

TheGoldenGirlsUK 09-09-2002, 08:56 AM Best of luck with the bidding for the book, jayman!! It's an excellent book to have and I often find myself referring to it when I've forgotten a quote. Something tells me that this book isn't going to be cheap as at £18-00 right now, the reserve still hasn't been met  Makes me wonder how many copies of that book are lurking on people's bookshelves in the UK right now, with them not realising there are a bunch of GG fans desperate to get their hands on a copy :D
I won the bidding for Estelle's Bio "If I knew then what I know now...so what?!" last week and I have to say it's an excellent read :)

I wonder if YOU are the one who outbid me on it!!! :P
TheGoldenGirlsUK 09-09-2002, 12:31 PM Whoops, sorry! :D Was this the one @ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1556000190
To be honest I'd forgotten all about even bidding for it so I was really surprised when I got confirmation that I'd won it. I thought for sure someone was going to come along and pip me at the post at the last minute :p
Sam
jayman75 09-09-2002, 12:47 PM Yep, it was you.
:angryfire :smash: :nonono: :smash: :angryfire
just kidding... I guess I'll just suffer without it :)
TheGoldenGirlsUK 09-16-2002, 06:42 PM Just noticed that The Golden Girls Scripts book went for £74-00 yesterday (that's around $110). Boy, was I lucky to get the book and have it shipped for £28-00 ($43).

Georgia's on my Mind 09-16-2002, 07:01 PM I own a couple of photo's, autograph's, and the lobster Jell-o mold used next to the refiderator. Also, I made cups similiar to the ones used on the show.
jayman75 09-16-2002, 07:33 PM Oh well... I got my PERSONALIZED Betty White photo... I have no complaints now.
I'll get that scanned soon for my signature.

TheGoldenGirlsUK 01-31-2003, 09:37 AM My friend, Katie, got me the BEST Christmas presents any GG fan could ask for. Personally signed pictures of Rue McClanahan and Betty White. You can see the scans @ http://www.the-goldengirls.com/Scans/scans.html :)
Sam
RoseNylund 01-31-2003, 09:12 PM I have autographs from all 4 Golden Girls, and I got some goodies too. Betty White was very kind to send a note along to the cast of "Lighten Up!," a show I wrote which was produced in New York. I wrote Bea Arthur a letter when she was doing "Just Betwen Friends" in NYC, and she wrote me back saying I could meet her backstage! I was just in awe as I stood talking with Dorothy Zbornak. I got a photo with her. She blinked! But it's such a great memory.
Bea Arthur also signed a shirt that my friend made for me. I also have a signed Playbill of the show. I have one Estelle Getty photo signed, two Rue McClanahan signed photos, 3 photos where three of the girls signed, and I think I have about 5 Betty White photos, along with two notes with "Betty White" letterhead. My friend also drew a wonderful caricature of the girls, and I had them sign it. I just love that one.
I have all of the episodes on tape, and have 19 of the Golden Palace episodes. Then I started taping all of the appearances the firls have been on, from The John Laroquette Show to Ladies Man. Maybe This Time, to Conversation with Betty White, Bea on Rosie O'Donnell, etc.
I love my Golden Girls, and if you all haven't written yet, then what are you waiting for. Bea, betty and Rue are all great signers. I know Rue is down in Miami doing a two-person show, but Betty and Bea are usually good signers, and sign within a week!
