This naturally, pertains to albums (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WMG/ToddInTheShadowsTrainwreckords) that were so (https://www.quora.com/What-musicians-destroyed-their-careers-with-one-terrible-album?top_ans=198771542) poorly received (https://www.reddit.com/r/ToddintheShadow/?f=flair_name%3A%22Train%20Wreckords%22) or conceived that the artist or band (https://watchmojo.com/video/id/32563) never (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CreatorKiller/Music) regained its commercial footing, or disbanded altogether.

When you look at it the singer that has had the most career destroying albums to fit in this thread's topic would have to be Whitney Houston. You see when she released her third album I'm Your Baby Tonight in 1990 it was a slow starter at first because at first it seemed only the title track would be a single but then when she released the song My Name Is Not Susan as a single it got limited airplay and the only remix of the song was a version with rap verses and then repeated it with a ballad called Miracle which also got no airplay whatsoever but the second underrated song that got attention was All The Man That I Need which although has a wonderful music video is one of Whitney Houston's best ballads that few people don't realize was a cover song originally sung by Linda Clifford. But I'm Your Baby Tonight still ranks as Whitney Houston's weakest selling album. A second Whitney Houston album that I think caused her career to go downhill was her Just Whitney album from 2003 and when it first came out people were glad to see Whitney's return to music but when her first single Try It On My Own got airplay on an episode of ABC's Boston Legal many people were proud of Whitney's comeback but despite hoping to attract more fans I think Just Whitney wasn't promoted enough by Arista and while people knew that Whitney Houston was known for singing on the soundtracks of The Bodyguard Waiting To Exhale and The Preacher's Wife Just Whitney was a disappointment and caused Whitney to go downhill but had Arista released more singles from the album it would've been a bigger hit album

There's a YouTuber named Todd In The Shadows who actually has a series of videos (Trainwreckords) that covers these sorts of albums, all are worth watching

Another album that was very underrated even though it was a wonderful album for Olivia-Newton John was her Warm And Tender album. When it debuted in 1989 the album recieved terrible reviews and was bashed by the music critics but I think the album itself is wonderful and nice and you could tell Olivia really had a wonderful voice for children's songs and lullabies and the Warm And Tender album was created in honor of Olivia's daughter. But although a lovely album Warm And Tender should've gotten more promotion indeed

I remember a Critic slamming Janet Jackson's Album, Discipline, saying something like, "Discipline is a bad album. I actually prefer Janet's first two Albums that actually flopped, Janet Jackson and Dreamstreet. Janet Jackson and Dreamstreet, she was a teenager who wasn't really big in the Music world yet. But with Discipline, there is no excuse for it to be a bad album. Janet is a grown Adult in her 40's who is a huge, successful Mega Superstar, not a 16 and an 18 year old Teen who hasn't really become all that successful in the Music world yet .....

Another artist that should've made a huge impression is Solange who is the sister of Beyonce and the album that should've made her more popular was her debut album Solo Star. When Solo Star was released the only single that became a hit was the song Feeling You and she was on her way to becoming a teen pop star. But due to little promotion Solange's album Solo Star was not the hit everybody expected it to be. Solange tried again with her second album but it also suffered the same fate when the song Tony "The Other Night Why" was the only single released from it and the album got low promotion. But Solange is one underrated singer in R&B music today. It seems that R&B music has the most record of artists with career destroying albums next to pop music
