After 57 years (https://www.cbr.com/days-of-our-lives-moves-to-peacock-from-nbc/), NBC (https://tvline.com/2022/08/03/days-of-our-lives-moving-peacock-ending-nbc/)'s 'Days of Our Lives' (https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/23243-like-sand-through-an-hourglass-behind-the-scenes-of-dool/page/88/#comments) moves to Peacock (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/wfhedh/twist_nbcs_days_of_our_lives_is_moving_to_peacock/) streaming service. The "sands through the hourglass" are moving to streaming (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/days-of-our-lives-is-moving-from-nbc-to-peacock.4980974/). NBC announced (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfhy8g/that_was_fast_its_official_days_is_heading_to/) Wednesday that its long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives” (https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/%E2%80%9Cdays-of-our-lives%E2%80%9D-to-move-the-hourglass-to-peacock.752534/) will move (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/31348341-dool-leaves-nbc-heads-to-peacock!) to the network's struggling streaming platform Peacock (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfiza9/days_of_our_lives_leaves_nbc_for_peacock/) on Sept. 12.
Wawwie 08-03-2022, 07:55 PM September 12th? I've been watching DOOL on Peacock for months now.
Days Of Our Lives Fans Have A Lot Of Feelings About The Latest Peacock News (https://www.looper.com/951864/days-of-our-lives-fans-have-a-lot-of-feelings-about-the-latest-peacock-news/)
Most are worried that Days of Our Lives won't last long on Peacock
It didn't take long for social media to light up with reactions to "Days of Our Lives" moving to Peacock. For instance, a Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfhy8g/that_was_fast_its_official_days_is_heading_to/) cropped up shortly after the announcement hit the internet that's absolutely chock-full of fascinating fan reactions. "Frankly I think this spells the death of the show. Peacock is failing altogether, so if Peacock fails, so does all the original programming," commented u/AdCareles65 (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfhy8g/that_was_fast_its_official_days_is_heading_to/iiu6txi/), voicing a concern that many "DOOL" viewers have at the moment. Several others worry that the show won't be accessible in their country (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfhy8g/that_was_fast_its_official_days_is_heading_to/iiu460v/), while some flat-out state they have no intention of subscribing to Peacock to keep watching (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/wfhy8g/that_was_fast_its_official_days_is_heading_to/iiu675g/).
Meanwhile, on the Twitter front, optimism for the future of "Days of Our Lives" is in equally short supply. Twitter users expressed similar concerns as those on Reddit, including the hypothetical disappearance of "DOOL" if Peacock someday shuts down (https://twitter.com/Twin278/status/1554943098182160385). Although, a handful of folks tried to look on the bright side and deduce how this move could benefit the series. "That's not a bad idea! Story-wise they can do a lot of stories that they can not on NBC," wrote @Skyefan (https://twitter.com/Skyefan/status/1554939277104107523), and @Susaleenah (https://twitter.com/Susaleenah/status/1554940624939491328) pondered if Peacock would include older episodes, giving the chance to relive classic stories with beloved characters and actors who've long since passed away (https://www.looper.com/476943/days-of-our-lives-actors-you-may-not-know-passed-away/) — something that more than a few people would be on board with.
We'll have to see how Peacock taking on "Days of Our Lives" will pan out for both parties, but for the time being, aside from a sparse few, morale among the show's fans is clearly low.

Hawkee 08-04-2022, 03:37 AM With streaming services now becoming a huge fad in TV now the way people watch TV shows now are changing. With soap operas this has helped for TV streaming services because a lot of people now are addicted to soap operas on streaming services now. With the news that Days Of Our Lives is moving to Peacock this fall I think this might mean the end for network soap operas on TV channels in the future. Because when you look at the general picture Days Of Our Lives has been the lone survivor of NBC soap operas after they had so many good soap operas end with Santa Barbara debuting in 1984 and ending in 1994 Generations in 1989 and ending in 1991 Sunset Beach and Passions and even with those soap operas struggling in ratings Days Of Our Lives still remained on top in soap opera ratings for NBC. The main reason why Days Of Our Lives is moving to Peacock is just so they can get more ratings and a bigger audience to watch it. And more than likely CBS will indeed follow suit with it's soap operas too in the future. As to what will likely replace Days Of Our Lives NBC will most likely put in a game show block because as you know game shows are the second watched genre of TV shows next to talk shows. But even with it's move to Peacock Days Of Our Lives will not be cancelled but will bring Peacock exclusive episodes with a brand new storyline

WilliamHBonney 08-04-2022, 10:31 AM Peacock business model makes no sense. They spend billions on niche sport prodcuts(WWE/Rugby,English Soccer) watched by young single men to hook those people to their streaming services, but then they add content that is like the opposite of what that demographic watches.
Sgt. Saunders 08-04-2022, 01:35 PM If Stefano DiMera and Alex Marshall knew about NBC’s plan to banish DOOL to the Elba Island-like Peacock Channel, they’d both be turning over in their graves!

Days Of Our Lives Is Leaving NBC After Nearly Six Decades (https://www.fame10.com/trending-news/days-of-our-lives-is-leaving-nbc-after-nearly-six-decades/)
“This programming shift (https://soaps.sheknows.com/message-boards/t/days-leaving-nbc-starting-next-month/793355) benefits both Peacock (https://boards.soapcentral.com/forum/daytime-drama-series-soap-operas/days-of-our-lives/4150000-soapcentral-frontpage-scoop-days-moving-to-peacock) and NBC (https://myhourglass.proboards.com/thread/30901/days-moving-exclusively-peacock) and is reflective of our broader (https://www.salemplace.com/topic/dool-moving/) strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers (https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/61543-days-august-2022-discussion-thread-%E2%8C%9B/page/4/#comments),” Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, mentioned in the statement.
“With a large percentage of the Days Of Our Lives (https://www.fanforum.com/f29/days-our-lives-discussion-thread-everyone-reformed-now-63245200/index15.html) audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase (http://www.tellytalk.net/threads/days-to-move-online.12524/) on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers,” Lazarus added.

Translation: Nobody's watching NBC anymore. Peacock's not doing much better, but we'll cut DOOL's budget and try it over there.
NBC's latest contract to run (https://dlisted.com/2022/08/04/after-47-years-on-nbc-days-of-our-lives-is-moving-to-peacock/) DOOL I want to say, runs through September 2023. So one could easily speculative that the move (https://boards.straightdope.com/t/end-of-an-era-nbc-s-long-running-soap-opera-days-of-our-lives-moving-exclusively-to-peacock/969073/18) to Peacock (https://community.cbr.com/showthread.php?161142-Days-Of-Our-Lives-moving-from-NBC-to-Peacock&) is a preemptive way of "putting it out to pasture" so to speak. It wouldn't be too surprising if DOOL only runs for a year (https://www.city-data.com/forum/tv/3374132-nbc-moves-dool-over-peacock.html) or two at the most on Peacock (https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/peacock-tv.386948/page-9) before it officially comes to an end (https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/days-of-our-lives-to-move-to-peacock.1152069/).

I never heard of this term before until yesterday, but this sounds like a "soft cancelation". In other words, this allows NBC to say that they aren't directly for the end of Days of Our Lives. It simply couldn't retain its network audience when it moves to streaming.
It basically all boils down to NBC absolving themselves of any blame if the old generation who refused to get with the times and watch streaming formats over typical TV viewing.
Willbo 08-10-2022, 01:36 PM Not so sure for a lot of older people that it comes down to being on a fixed income. With prices sky rocketing on just about everything, adding another $5 a month might be to much.
icecream 08-10-2022, 09:55 PM NBC News Daily will be replacing Days of Our Lives on September 12, yes an hourlong afternoon news show.
Duster76 08-10-2022, 11:38 PM The handwriting is on the wall here, TMC indicates the show has a deal that runs into September 2023, assuming that's true this will definitely be the last season. NBC recently reported zero subscriber growth for Peacock so this move may drive some to sign up for the service so they'll get something out of the final season.
siblis 08-12-2022, 02:48 AM I think soaps are a thing of the past and have been slowly dying in the last 20 yrs; as talk shows and cheap reality shows take off and streaming video being a big hit with younger people; days will probably come to a complete stop next year when their contract officially runs out
It's probably at this point, within reason to believe that the younger people aren’t going to stream 250 episodes a year. Younger people typically stream 6-10 episodes of a season of a show they can binge. And most older people with all due respect, likely still don’t understand streaming and how to get Peacock.
Who wants to bet that DOOL will start off at 5 episodes a week on Peacock, then drop down to 4, then 3 before it's officially cancelled?
What Days of Our Lives' Move to Peacock Means for Soap Operas (https://www.cbr.com/days-of-our-lives-peacock-affect-soap-operas/)
What Does Days of Our Lives Moving to Peacock Mean?
Days is not the first soap opera to be sent to streaming. As Deadline explains, Prospect Park, the production company behind ABC's All My Children and One Life to Live tried to save both shows through streaming in 2011. However, this attempt was unsuccessful. This failure might make Days' future seem bleak, but the television landscape has changed in the past decade. Television in general has increasingly become more focused on streaming over broadcast television, with many popular series such as The Mandalorian, Stranger Things and Squid Game airing exclusively on streaming but still maintaining important places in the cultural consciousness.
While Days' move from broadcast television to streaming might seem surprising, NBC tested the waters for exclusive soap opera content on Peacock with Beyond Salem and the Christmas movie Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas. These are not the first soap opera spinoffs ever, but they do point to new efforts to explore different storytelling structures to continue the stories of Salem, both in town and beyond. While old episodes of Days are currently available streaming on Peacock with a basic account, Beyond Salem and Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas have only been available through Premium accounts. The fact that Beyond Salem aired a second season in July shows that there has been an audience for Days on the streaming platform.
Streaming also fits in with many viewers' approach to watching the show. Since daytime soap operas air during the workday, for decades viewers have used VCRs, DVRs, smart TVs and other means to record the show to watch later. However, with Peacock, a basic account still is required to view episodes, and a premium account is required to view episodes on the same day that they air. While many members of the audience might already have Peacock accounts, some members of the audience might be reluctant to embrace streaming or pay extra to view episodes on release day when they have been able to watch new episodes for free. However, the move to Peacock could also engage a new audience, especially if Days continues to experiment with spin-off series and special event movies.
Thus, while Days' move to streaming might seem like the death knell of soap operas, the move could revitalize the genre for future generations. If Days succeeds on Peacock, ABC and NBC might follow suit. Soap operas have switched mediums and platforms before. Many older soap operas began as radio dramas before moving to television, where they thrived for decades. Rather than the end of soap operas, Days' move to streaming could just be another step in the evolution of the genre and allow soap operas to continue to air for decades more.
Days was allegedly moved to Peacock because it can't compete with the ad revenue being brought in by the news-infotainment segment. Last week in Variety (https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/afternoon-tv-news-gma3-nbc-news-daily-streaming-1235347351/):
Both “GMA3” and “Days of Our Lives” are supported largely by the ad dollars of big pharmaceutical companies hoping to reach older Americans. But the soap opera won about $30.8 million in advertising last year, according to Kantar, a tracker of ad spending, compared with about $43.4 million for “GMA3” — a difference of around 40.9%. In the first quarter of 2022, “Days” generated about $4.2 million, while “GMA3” took in nearly $11.9 million — a massive gap of 183.3%.
It would be cool if a brand new soap opera replaced DAYS, but in this day and age, I doubt it. Sad that NBC doesn’t have any more soap operas.
You Won’t See This Again #4: A New Network Daytime Soap Opera (http://that401ksite.com/2016/12/12/you-wont-see-this-again-4-a-new-network-daytime-soap-opera/)
The reason why networks won’t be adding other shows on the air is cost. There is a tremendous cost to put a soap opera into production and the reason most fail is because of ratings. Why would a network launch a show (whether they are the producer or not) when it takes years for a show to garner an audience? The last successful launch of a soap opera was The Bold and The Beautiful and it helped that its sister series The Young and The Restless was its lead-in and rated #1. The last network soap opera launch was Passions in 1999.
It’s cheaper for the network to launch and broadcast reality shows, game shows, cooking shows, court shows, and talk shows. There’s not enough patience on the network to broadcast a soap opera that is expensive and takes years to get attention especially when it’s just cheaper to resurrect an old game show like Let’s Make A Deal.
Television is a business and it’s jut better business sense for them to air cheaper programming when the viewers are no longer there to support a soap opera.
King Charles disrupts Days of Our Lives' NBC finale (https://people.com/tv/king-charles-speech-interrupts-days-of-our-lives-final-nbc-episode/)
The final (https://soaps.sheknows.com/message-boards/t/last-day-of-days-on-nbc/795259) NBC (https://boards.soapcentral.com/forum/daytime-drama-series-soap-operas/days-of-our-lives/4196587-days-farewell-on-nbc-and-when-did-one-become-a-fan)-aired episode (https://www.reddit.com/r/DaysofOurLives/comments/x9z7u5/daily_discussion_september_09_2022/) of the soap opera (https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/17445-current-plots-discussion-actually-todays-episode/page/1161/#comments) was preempted (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/xa27rp/final_nbc_scene_of_days_of_our_lives_cut_short_by/) by King Charles, leaving (https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/%E2%80%9Cdays-of-our-lives%E2%80%9D-to-move-the-hourglass-to-peacock.752534/page-9) east coast viewers with a cliffhanger.
The handwriting is on the wall here, TMC indicates the show has a deal that runs into September 2023, assuming that's true this will definitely be the last season. NBC recently reported zero subscriber growth for Peacock so this move may drive some to sign up for the service so they'll get something out of the final season.
Think about it this way, it's within reason to assume that people had NBC on all-day for background noise, especially in waiting rooms. So why do you realistically think and expect that people will actually go and stream a show that is essentially telling the same storyline day after day?
shandy630 09-18-2022, 12:28 AM I wouldn't be surprised if Days is done after September 2023. The ratings weren't that great to begin with before the move. In order to watch Days on Peacock, you have to subscribe to the premium tier, which is $4.99 a month and I believe the past episodes that are available to watch only go back several years.

Well, that sucks. I’d love to see a new, good soap opera on NBC, ABC, or CBS. Oh, well. I guess the closet thing we’ll get to a new soap opera is whatever Paramount+ and Peacock offers.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Fans Livid as Network Loses 750,000 Viewers After Move From NBC to Peacock: “A Huge Mistake” (https://decider.com/2022/09/26/days-of-our-lives-fans-livid-soap-opera-loses-viewers-move-nbc-peacock/)

Perhaps moving Days of Our Lives to streaming was not the best idea for NBC. The network, which officially moved the long-running soap opera to Peacock earlier this month, is reported (https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/23243-like-sand-through-an-hourglass-behind-the-scenes-of-dool/page/92/#comments) to have lost nearly 750,000 viewers since replacing it with NBC News Daily.
According to ShowBiz 411, the soap opera was averaging 1.6 million viewers per day on NBC. Meanwhile, the news hour that replaced Days only brought in 935,000 viewers last week, resulting in a loss of around 750,000 viewers for the network.
Viewers of the show were furious when the final airing of Days on NBC before its jump to streaming was cut short by King Charles III’s speech following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. And despite the stars feeling “very optimistic” about the future of the show, which has been on for 57 years, many fans are not echoing the same sentiment.
“Do you think that NBC is now realizing that they made a huge mistake with moving #DaysOfOurLives to Peacock and replaced it with NBC News Daily?” one asked.
Someone else added, “NBC News Daily is already a colossal FAIL. I love to see these bad numbers. NBC you should have kept Days of Our Lives on. We were getting DOUBLE NBC News Daily numbers. Learn from your mistake NBC, return Days back to its proper time slot.”
Others are angry that they have to pay to watch Days of Our Lives now.
One wrote, “@nbc after watching #daysofourlives for more than 50 years, I’m finding since you moved it behind the paywall on @peacock that I’m not missing it so much. Life goes on,” while another commented that they are “not watching the network so much anymore either.”
“Should have never pulled Days of Our Lives out of network tv so many older fans don’t have peacock or broadband @nbc #dool #DaysOfOurLives no one wants to each infomercials all day,” a third person fumed.
Someone else added, “#DaysOfOurLives going to streaming on Peacock and no longer on #NBC sucks not everybody can afford to pay to watch & I can’t watch my Days stories…”
Days of Our Lives releases new episodes on weekdays at 6 a.m. ET / 3 a.m. PT on Peacock.
Yong Fang 10-07-2022, 07:59 AM I think the downfall of Soap Operas was that mostly women watched them and because of the (despicable) economy, more and more women either want and/or have to be employed, so they are not home in the early afternoons. When VCR's were a thing, people probably taped them and even now my father's cable system has a way to tape a show.
I used to watch Days of our Lives back in the late 1980's but stopped watching around 1990. I remember around 2018 when I returned home for a visit that I put on Days of Our Lives and was just surpirsed and a bit shocked how many of the actors I still recognized. Kayla was on there. Patch was on there. A Martinez was on there. Someone wrote below that the actor who played Abe Carver was still on the show. I was a bit shocked that these actors have been on this show for over thirty years. I know there are some actors who have been on the same Daytime Drama for decades, but it just seems like soaps are a spring board for young actors to do their time to get experience for spots on prime time shows. But I really dont know.
I have said this before, but before you spend money on "Peacock", go to Google and type "Watch Series Free Online". There are many websites who show episodes the day they come out.
Soap Opera Fans in a Lather as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Leaves NBC to Stream on Peacock (https://www.wsj.com/articles/days-of-our-lives-nbc-peacock-11662764368?mod=hp_featst_pos5)
Elizabeth Capobianco flew about 500 miles on Friday for just one reason: to make sure her grandmother can keep watching her favorite soap opera.
Starting Monday, “Days of Our Lives” is leaving NBC after nearly 57 years on the air and is moving exclusively to Peacock, a streaming platform owned by NBC parent Comcast Corp.
Minutes after she heard about the move a few weeks ago, Ms. Capobianco, a 35-year-old logistics coordinator from Charlotte, N.C., called her grandmother, who has barely missed a daily episode since the show began airing in 1965.
“She doesn’t know anything about streaming,” Ms. Capobianco said of her grandma, Sidnee Capobianco, who introduced her to “Days” more than 20 years ago. She offered to come to her grandmother’s Long Island home and set up Peacock on her TV ahead of Monday’s launch. They plan to watch the show’s Peacock debut together.
The announcement last month that “Days” would no longer be on TV was greeted with a mix of shock, anger and resignation by fans, many of whom have been watching it since childhood.
Casey Costello, a 31-year-old freelance musician from Rochester, N.Y., said the show holds a special place in his heart because it was one of the rare things that wasn’t stopped by Covid-19. Because episodes are shot so far in advance, “Days” managed to air a new one every day even at the height of the pandemic.
“I really admired the way they carried on,” he said. “So when I heard they were going to this app, I was sort of dismayed.” He said he fears plenty of viewers will turn on their TV on Monday “and wonder where the show went.”
Comcast’s NBCUniversal unit said bringing “Days” fans to Peacock would bolster the streaming service. The company said it ran a series of ads about the move, and noted that people who sign up for Peacock later than Monday will be able to catch up on any episodes they missed.
Despite declining ratings, “Days” is appointment television for about 1.9 million viewers every day, many of whom go out of their way to watch the show live despite the fact that it airs early in the afternoon. Some even tune in from the office, scheduling their lunch break around the show.
Many fans expressed relief that “Days of Our Lives” wasn’t canceled outright—a fate that befell other prominent soaps, including ABC’s “All My Children” about a decade ago. They see the fact that Peacock is already home to recent “Days” spinoffs as a good omen.
Ms. Capobianco is going above and beyond to make sure the show keeps going. She says she already has complimentary access to the premium version of Peacock through her cable subscription, but decided to create another account for herself—for which she now has to pay—with the hope that “Days” will get credit for the sign-up.
“New subscriptions are really what they are looking for,” she said, adding she knew of a handful of fans who canceled original subscriptions and signed on with a new email—making the most of a special promotional offer—to try to give the show a boost.
Peacock’s premium version has 13 million paying subscribers in the U.S., not including people who get it at no extra cost through cable providers. There is also a free version of Peacock, but that one won’t offer “Days of Our Lives” once the show moves to the premium version Monday.
Set in the fictional Midwestern town of Salem, “Days” chronicles the lives—and romantic entanglements—of people from several families. Hardcore fans will usually root for one family, though Ms. Capobianco said people also love cheering for a specific couple.
“I’ve always been a John and Marlena fan for as long as I can remember,” she said. “They really drew me in back in the day, and they pretty much have kept me coming back all these years.”
As with many TV shows, the “Days” audience has been aging fast. This year, three-quarters of its viewers are 55 and older, according to Nielsen, compared with a little over half back in 2013.
In one of the ads flagging the show’s move to Peacock, Billy Flynn, who portrays the “Days” character Chad DiMera, pays a visit to co-stars Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes to help them set up the service. No need, he’s told: They’ve already done so, and it was a breeze.
NBCUniversal also said new episodes of “Days” would be prominently featured on Peacock’s home page.
Watching “Days” on streaming instead of broadcast TV will have upsides, fans say. For one, the show will no longer be pre-empted by breaking news. On Friday, the last scene of the final broadcast episode of “Days” was cut short in some markets by King Charles III’s first speech as British monarch.
Mr. Costello said that early in the pandemic, the show was so frequently interrupted by then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s coronavirus briefings that he wrote a letter to the manager of his local NBC affiliate asking him to stop broadcasting them.
Mr. Costello also hopes the show, which opens with a close-up of a rotating hourglass, reverts to its full-length theme music once it no longer has to meet television’s time constraints. He occasionally plays it on the piano.
NBCUniversal said there are no immediate plans to go back to the longer intro music.
Some fans are speculating the show might get a little edgier as it leaves broadcast television. Bryen Miller, a 44-year-old from Goshen, Ind., said he noticed that “Days” actors who appeared on “Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem,” a recent spinoff made exclusively for Peacock, occasionally swore, which wouldn’t happen on the main broadcast.
“An occasional swear word in some of these situations makes it more realistic,” Mr. Miller said.
Not all “Days” fans are planning to make the jump to Peacock.
Asked what he would do on Monday, Bob Price said: “I’m going to start watching ‘General Hospital,’ ” referring to the ABC soap opera. Mr. Price, a 56-year-old land surveyor from Pittsburgh, said he already has Netflix and Amazon’s Prime Video and doesn’t want to pay for yet another streaming service.
Nancy Belden, a 63-year-old from Altoona, Wis., said her 94-year-old mother, who has been watching “Days of Our Lives” daily since its inception, won’t be able to anymore starting Monday because she doesn’t have an internet connection.
“ ‘Days’ was her favorite,” Ms. Belden said. “We even had to schedule doctor’s appointments for her around ‘Days of Our Lives.’ ” When her mother found out the show was coming off TV, Ms. Belden said, “she cried.”
In another of NBC’s recent ads, James Reynolds, who plays Abe Carver on the show, said that when he grew up, soap operas were 15-minute programs on the radio.
“In the ’50s, a new technology came along called television, and soaps transitioned to TV,” Mr. Reynolds said. “It wasn’t an easy change for everybody—some people didn’t have television sets.” He said the move to Peacock is a result of “the wave of the future.”
Instead of having to wait for the daily midday broadcast, people will have access to new episodes every morning, possibly as early as 6 a.m. Eastern time, NBCUniversal said.
John Michael, a 45-year-old bookkeeper from Terre Haute, Ind., plans to make the most of it. “You could watch ‘Days’ over breakfast with your coffee and stuff, and get it out of the way before the rest of your day.”

Canadian Days Of Our Lives Fans Face New Obstacle To Watch Their Favorite Soap (https://www.thelist.com/1300112/canadian-days-of-our-lives-fans-obstacle-watch-soap/)

"Days of Our Lives" has gone through so many changes over the years. However, the past two years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for longtime fans. The soap opera moved from its home on NBC, where it had aired since debuting in 1965, to the network's streaming service Peacock. U.S. fans were then forced to sign up for a subscription to the streamer if they wanted to continue to watch the sudser. A debate about the move sparked among viewers.
As the sudser moved exclusively to Peacock in the United States in September 2022, the show also went exclusively to the W Network in Canada, per Michael Fairman TV. After Canadian fans found out about the move to W, they shared their thoughts on the issue. "Thanks for the much-needed info. Would have been a shame to lose another show to streaming. I like to watch my big screen TV," one person tweeted. "Canada thanks w network," another commented.
Sadly, Canadian "DOOL" fans who prefer to watch their soaps on TV have run out of luck.
Fans will still be able to watch Days of Our Lives on Peacock
According to Soap Hub, the Eastlink cable service in Canada revealed to their customers that they are losing the W network as well as dozens of other channels when they were unable to reach an agreement with Corus Entertainment. This means that Canadian viewers won't be able to watch their favorite soap opera on television any longer. However, it's not a lost cause just yet. There is still a possibility that a deal between Eastlink and Corus Entertainment can be reached in the future. If not, fans can watch "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock or the Global TV app, albeit with a one-day delay on new episodes.
The loss of the W Network in Canada will also mean that many won't be able to watch the network's other programming, as they also air popular shows such as "Outlander" and content from the Hallmark Channel such as their beloved "Countdown to Christmas" lineup.
While "Days of Our Lives" viewers may be upset about the latest Canadian update, there are several ways to watch the soap. Although it may not be ideal for some, those looking to find the newest episodes of the sudser will be able to stream them if they so desire.
