Somebody recently brought this up (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/w6aitf/i_think_in_the_house_was_doomed_to_be_a_midrun/) on Reddit. Basically, the show (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_House_(TV_series)) when it first came on, was seen as (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/in-the-house-debuted-25-years-ago-this-month.3374828/) a serviceable successor to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But after The Fresh Prince ended its run in Spring 1996, NBC elected not to continue with In the House.
UPN (https://andscape.com/features/on-tv-a-fledgling-upn-tried-to-follow-nbc-and-fox-with-black-programming/) was fortunately, around (https://books.google.com/books?id=aKDW1OKSOLAC&pg=PA298&lpg=PA298&dq=%22in+the+house%22+final+six+episodes+syndication+1999&source=bl&ots=I9HZW9v7GF&sig=ACfU3U1yHJeDkdGZesJoRZr8vXYt8gTvqg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj_0pG-zJP5AhW0mmoFHcV4BYIQ6AF6BAgiEAM#v=onepage&q=%22in%20the%20house%22%20final%20six%20episodes%20syndication%201999&f=false) to save it (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/InTheHouse) even though UPN itself, was still trying to gain (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112015/trivia?ref_=ttep_ql_trv_1) a foothold. Did the move to UPN as well as the retooling, led to it losing momentum (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125318/http://www.jumptheshark.com/i/inthehouse.htm) over time? It was a such jarring change (http://waichingsthoughts81.blogspot.com/2013/07/retro-review-in-house.html), that took some time to get accustomed (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/things-you-liked-disliked-about-in-the-house.4671529/) to it, don't you agree?
